Women missing Pap smears
April 29, 2007
In an article out today it has been revealed that almost one in four women in New South Wales are putting their health at risk by failing to have regular pap smears to check for cervical cancer. No doubt these numbers will be similar through out Australia, and the world.
These are alarming statistics. It is advised that all women who are over 18 and have been sexually active at any stage of their lives to have a Pap smear every 2 years until age 70 years. Regular Pap smears every two years can help prevent up to 90 per cent of the most common type of cervical cancer.
“Cervical cancer can be fatal, but it can be prevented and treated if detected early enough … over 80 per cent of cervical cancers occur in women who have not had a regular Pap test.â€
About 740 women are diagnosed with cervical cancer each year in Australia. Of this around 270 women will die. Please be sure you are having regular Pap smears.
Visit the National Cervical Screening Program or speak with your local GP for more information.
Creamy Tuna Bake
April 29, 2007
You will need…
1½ cups dried macaroni pasta
2 x 425g cans tuna in spring water drained
cooking spray
1 teaspoon crushed garlic
2 cups mushrooms sliced
½ cup shallots or onion sliced
1 cup frozen corn kernels
1 x 310g can creamed corn
2 teaspoons salt reduced chicken style stock powder (Massel®)
2 x 30g sachets 4 cheese sauce (Continental®)
1½ cups boiling water
½ cup grated tasty cheese
Method…
Preheat oven 180ºC fan forced.
Cook pasta as instructed on packet, leave to one side. Drain tuna and roughly break up, leave to one side. Coat a large non-stick frypan with cooking spray, sauté garlic and mushrooms, cook 2 minutes. Add tuna, shallots, corn kernels, cream corn and stock powder and combine. In a small bowl combine 4 cheese sauce with boiling water until blended. Add cheese sauce to pan, fold together. Add pasta and stir well. Pour into a casserole dish. Sprinkle cheese over top and bake 30 minutes or until cheese has melted and browned on top.
You can also substitute the tuna for 500g of cooked diced chicken pieces.
For an extra yummy topping, I like to sprinkle with bread crumbs and and halve whole baby beetroots and place them on top before cooking.

Special Offer-The Secret to Self-Empowerment for Women
April 26, 2007
Did you see Top Sante’s survey published in the major daily newspapers recently? Of the 2,000 women surveyed less than 25% feel they are living the life they thought they would when they were younger. Sound familiar?
What’s worse is the staggering 84% that say they are not fulfilling their potential. Further, the overwhelming majority of them feel underpaid, overworked, sexually frustrated and disillusioned!
“I was consumed with self doubt in many areas of my life. This also affected relationships with family, friends and slowed down my progress professionally.” Danni, Director of Lumiere Make-Up Melbourne, Australia
The chairwoman of Saatchi & Saatchi, Sandra Yates, said: “If there’s one thing this report finally does, it puts the nail in that old myth that time will fix the problem. If we ever bought that old pup, we should abandon it as it is clearly not true.”
