I believe in God. I do go to Church but it's mostly to sing rather than to worship, I don't believe you have to go to Church to be religious. That's about it really, I believe that there are some supernatural things that go on and that not everything can be explained by science.

I was brought up a Catholic but soon gave up on that very quickly. I then became an evolutionist however man's theories don't always gel and still many many answers to things like Why are we here? Why do we think about why we are here? Is there a purpose? Why do we die? Why do we get old? Will life ever be without violence, hate and corruption? Why do some people prosper and why do some have to live in poverty and third world conditions? Why is there no justice in the world?... Well I could go on and on LOL.
I believe there is a God, he has a name and that life on earth can not go on the way it is - its got to change soon!

I believe.....
That there is a god or higher being,
In re-incarnation, that we have all been here many times before and will again return, each visit learning and teaching throughout our lives,
In a Heaven/ Utopia/Garden of Eden (or by some other name) that we visit for the time between our lives on Earth. I do not believe in a place called hell (or by any other name),
In Karma, and that for every action there is a reaction,
That everyone has the right to believe in what they choose without being ridiculed or persecuted by others,
And I believe in fairies SO please don't step on mushrooms or toadstools :Hehe:
I too believe in a "higher being, or beings" but I do not believe in the "Church" as such. I have always taught my children that the Bible is a true and meaningful book, one they should believe in. It is how people Interpret it that differs!!!
I believe in reincarnation, spirits (ghosts if you like), and I also believe that we are all capable of much more than we are aware of. One day, we may learn what the majority of our brain is for! ;)
I too think that our World, as we know it, has GOT to change, and soon!!

I agree with you there Anne, we seem to be getting out of control ( the whole world I mean)
Hmmm... good to hear everyone's opinions! I don't follow any formal religion, but believe in "god" or a higher power. I once heard a theory that "god/higher being" is a collective of everyone's subconscious minds... interesting to consider:)
I definitely believe in ghosts, the afterlife, reincarnation... I have experienced too much not to believe in these things!

I believe in God, I believe in Jesus Christ,I believe in re-incarnation,ghosts and karma.
I believe segregated religions are not good for peace on earth because too many wars and deaths have been caused by these.
I believe we will all go to "heaven" regardless of sexuality, race, murderer or not,had sex before marriage or what ever else the Catholic Church is against and yes I am christened Catholic but don't believe in what my church preaches beacuse it so far behind the times it's insane really.
I think we should love and respect one another and this world will be a better place and we don't need no damn religion to tell us that!

I'm a Christian & DH is a Messianic Jew. I take the boys to church every sunday, currently an Anglican church, but we will go whereever we feel welcome and has good teaching.

I believe that there is a "higher power" or also called the "universe". I believe in speaking to my spirit guides/angels. I believe that we have lived lives before this one and will live more after. I believe in karma and that if we don't learn a lesson we will keep repeating it until we learn it.
I respect that people believe in a particular religion however I don't subscribe to any. I believe in Jesus Christ and the Mother Mary (as I have had an experience that I cannot disregard).
I was born a Catholic but will not marry under any religion and will not raise any children (if we decide to have them) in any religion.

I am very open and accomodating when it comes to peoples views on spirituality. As far as I am concerned it's each to their own as long as they don't try to push their views or beliefs down the throat of others. Now when it comes to organised religions I am afraid that if we look back over the many centuries we can see that most of the conflict throughout the world can be traced back to "Religion". The way I see it is this...when it comes to going to church, it's not just what you do on Sunday but how you live your life the other six days of the week that makes you the person you are. I have often seen many people who are avid church goers and volunteers within the church communities be absolute violent raging terrors to their own families at home. No thanks!

I am so happy to see other people with some of the same views as I have. It is so refreshing. Most of the people I come into contact with are so "all or nothing" about religion. My mom, and family were raised as Catholic, but they haven't been involved in that religion for a very long time. I was kind of raised without religion. It was never a factor in my life, so I have been confused about my beliefs all my life. As I am today, I believe in a higher power. I believe there is a god. I believe in Karma...very much, because I've seen it in action. I am unsure what happens after we die. Heaven, Hell, Limbo....I don't know. I don't go to church. I don't follow the bible. My hubby is agnostic, but I'm pretty sure he feels what I do about religion. He's unsure.

I just realised that I have been reading everyones thoughts and views here and havent evn put in my two cents!! Well here it is:
I believe that we go to a better place when we pass on - however that may be and whatever we have done in this life. I sort of believe in re-incarnation, for I see a lot of personalities out there which are so much like the loved ones that I have said goodbye to - some of them are total strangers and some of them are my friends!! i believe in Karma - what goes around, comes around - one good deed deserves another. I dont believe in one God (I grew up a Catholic), but in several Gods - each has a certain purpose, much like the Greek or Egyptian Gods. I believe that I will see my loved ones when I pass and that those I leave behind will join me, eventually. I believe in ghosts - lost souls and 'angels'.
Thats about it at the moment.

I am agnostic but not atheist, I believe there is something greater than us but I do not subscribe to God etc.
I see people do so many awful things in the name of religion and it makes me sick. Spirituality is what I believe in, a karma. :)

I believe in spirits, ghosts, karma, re-incarnation etc etc, but I also keep a very open mind. I have views on who I think Jesus was (or wasn't). I was baptised Anglican when a child, but 'lost the way' so to speak. I also did the sunday school thing and the youth group etc, but not sure that it was really me.

Oops, I should have looked harder before I started a thread on spirituality yesterday...
I'm interested in pantheism. Does anyone out there have experience with it that they want to share with me? I've only been into it for about a year and am very curious. I'm always thirsty for knowledge which enhances my spiritual nature.
I'll start by saying how hard I find it to meditate in the traditional ways as my mind races and I get uncomfortable. I read a great book by Sarah Ban Breathnacht called 'Romancing the Ordinary' in which she says about meditation: 'I do luxuriate in my senses, indulge my yearnings, rejoice in my desires, long for the Divine, and pray each day to be delivered to my passion'.
Also read a great book by Joan Borysenko called 'A Woman's Spiritual Journey' which talks about how more and more women are feeling aliented by traditional religions and are finding their own paths to whatever they see as the Divine.

Hi Nicole,
There's a great intro at http://www.pantheism.net/
Basically it's seeing nature and the universe as the 'divine' spirit, rather than worshipping an anthropentric (human-centred) God.
Hope that helps.... :)
PS Good luck with the wedding!
