Hello, I moved from sydney, from the Shire, Cronulla.
Its not easy making friends when you move to a new place, really quite hard! We moved here with my three cats which i love to death but annoy me so much (to spoilt!!) :blush: Most of the forums i have been on are just full of abusive messages and rubbish, not saying i am a prude in anyway, just nice to find a website with a great bunch of woman from Australia.

3 cats! Wow, lucky you!! I have just got a new dog, a Border Collie called Max. He is 10 weeks old tomorrow! Also, we have a cat named Amber. She went walk-about for over 3 weeks but came home yesterday! :hug:


Oh, I am no longer living in Oz, I live in NZ (but please don't hold that against me! ;) ) I moved here from Bundaberg.

thank you , you all seem lovely. I am a huge cat lover, my boyfriend says he does not like cats but i see him in the morning having chats and scratches, must just be a man thing to lie about hating cats, i dont know. its funny, i am from sydney brought up in townsville (wulguru) and lived in bundy for some time, were your all from. crazy world!

I hope that you are finding your way okay in Brisbane - I also moved from a small country town (Gympie) then to another really yokel town (Gatton) and then to the Big City - Brisbane. It was quite a move but after about a year I finally was getting the hang of it. I think the scariest part for me was catching public transport!! I'm a bit of a scardey cat about everything tho!!

Hi there and welcome!! I am Michelle, but everyone knows me as Shelli. I live in Rockahampton with my partner and 4 kids - 3 are mine from different relationships and lil Pete is ours (4 months). We also have Pete's two kids every 2nd weekend, so we have a full house. We have a dog called Scooter, who is Poodle x Schitzu. We have had cats before, but were not lucky to have good ones, or ones that survive the road too much....sorry bout that....its the only way I could describe them!! I would love another cat, but with our track record, I dont think that it would be a good idea.

Welcome to AFW!! I'm Nicole, an Aussie living in Hong Kong. I live with my fiance and 2 feline furries, Missy & Pirate (cats).

I have to agree it is difficult moving to a new city and only knowing your other half... I've done it 3 times. My suggestion (if you haven't already thought about it) is see if you can join a netball/basketball team; do some community classes in jewellery making or something like that... you might just meet some really nice people. Good luck with adjusting :)
