I have three cats, strays that i have just picked up along the way, i love them to death, i have Oliver a eight kilo huge Tabby boy( mummies boy!) then i have sabrina a little grey girl that my boyfriend found on a job site, which my partner stepped on a few months ago cause she was so small, broke her ribs and pelvis ($2500 later) she is better, not bad for a staray! now i have Poppy a pure white boy, he is only three months old and can be very annoying at times, he has started peeing on my lounge, i had it cleaned three days ago and before the cleaner had left the drive way he was at it again, i dont know what to do, he is peeing on it atleast once a week.....anyone have any ideas

Thanks so much for the advice!!!

:) :)

I'm not entirely sure about this ... but is it white cats that are often deaf? Because that could cause some behavioural issues.

Otherwise, it may just be that he can still smell the wee so he keeps going back to the same spot. I have heard BioZet (laundry detergent) is good for getting rid of the odour so the cat can't smell it anymore but I don't know how you'd use it on a couch.

Is it just the couch where he wees inappropriately? If he's doing it everywhere it might be a health issue. Or, as he's so young, is it possible he just doesn't know how to use the litter tray properly?

Hi, I saw this same issue on Harry's Practise once. It's a territory issue with your cat because you have others. Talk to your vet for some advise, the cat is trying to create its own space from the others. Do they share the same litter tray? If so,I think it needs it own tray but like I said ,talk to your vet and they'll advise you as to what to do.

Hi Bree,

I agree, I think it's an issue with territory. My female Burmese started peeing on a leather chair (of all places  ) I think in the first instance it was my fault I'd negleted the litter tray. She only pee'd on the chair on the very odd occasion until Harry (dog) arrived. Then she pee'd on the chair continually! I purchased Feliway (the defuser) from the vet (it is expensive tho) and it has worked a treat! Tho I have heard others say that didn't work for their cat. Biozet is best used to clean up any accidents.

Have a chat to your vet :) Good luck!

I had a cat once that did that and it turned out he had a urinary tract infection. He was peeing really often though, but it might be worth checking out.

We too had a cat that would pee and then sleep in inappropriate places. (same reason, brought another cat into the house). Well what we did, because she was going and sleeping in the babies cot (can you believe it), was to get a citronella scented gernamium plant (available at any good garden or herb center) and gently brushed it around the area we didn't want her to go. Cats hate the smell of citronella so it worked a treat.

Good Luck

Cheers

Oh you poor thing!!

Have you tired spraying him with a bottle full of water??
Is he fixed up?? I've got two boys and had both of them fixed at 6mths and the vet said that is the best thing to do to stop them spraying furniture etc. But you've got a few months before you can do anything ... try the water bottle!!

As someone else said ... white cats can have hearing problems too so that might contribute to the problem!!
