I think Pam and I came up with everything there is yesterday, but thought someone may have a magic cure?
I have never had this problem before, maybe because it is such a dark rich colour. I have a big splotch on my hair line, near my ear..on my face! and do you think I can get it off?
Tried lots of scrubbing and shampoo, nope... toothpaste, hairspray, handsoap, face cleanser..nope..... not even nail polish remover worked!

It's just this one spot left now, and it looks like a birth mark LOL...maybe the skin is burnt in that spot now

Not sure if this will work now that the stain has had time to set, but when I'm colouring my hair, and I notice some of the dye on my skin, I use a face washer dipped in a small amount of the hair dye.

Sounds strange but it actually does work.

ahhh Okay, a bit like if you have no nailpolish remover - simply apply nail polish and wipe it off whilst wet..takes off all the nail polish :)

Leigh, just do a spot test first LOLLOL incase Jewly is tricking

Did you try hair CONDITIONER this is what hairdresses use?

Yeah thats what i do...put some conditioner all around your hair line and ears before you start and it won't stain but make sure if there is some on there to try and wipe it off straight away and apply more conditioner just in case!!
I bought some cheap conditioner to use just for colouring my hair so i don't use up all my good stuff!! :)

Lol @ Pam...no I'm not tricking....it really does work.

I'm sitting here right now with colour in my hair....covering up all those nasty little grey hairs. I got some on my arm, and my face, and I simply wiped it off using some of the colour on a face washer..simple!!!

You could have told me that yesterday Jewly :P

Will have to have a go with the shampoo and conditioner again when I wash it later.

What colour are you putting in Jewly?

( I probably should have brushed it first  )

Leigh, what a stunning colour!! Beautiful!

Good luck getting the dye off! When I do Mum's for her, I also use Shampoo or conditioner to remove the colour from her face, ears and neck. :)

I would have told you yesterday had you asked... :P

I have very dark brown, almost black hair naturally but I get a fewgrey hairs around the sides and through my fringe, so I just put in a dark brown to cover those up. Noothing fancy...unlike you.

Love the colour you have!!!

Oh dear... :) I have uncontrollable curly hair, and I seem to always end up with dye everywhere!!! Have you tried makeup remover (for waterproof eye makeup), that sometimes works for me. And if you believe my mum, try dabbing lemon juice on the stain and leaving it there, apparently it will fade the stain (what would we do without our mums?? hehe) Good luck... great colour, by the way!!!

Lemon acts like a bleach, so will probably, most likely bring out the stain. Another thing that I do when I colour my hair (usually a dark-medium brown colour), I get to the stains staight after washing the colour out, if I missed any while the colour was in or in the shower. I get to them with a wet cotton wool ball and some ash from my ash tray - helps if you smoke. That or salt or sand will probably work, as they are abrasive. You would just have to be careful not to rub too much and take off a couple of layers of skin!! Th ciggy ash is not as abrasive as the salt or sand, so its a lot better for your skin.

Lots of wonderful ideas I will have to try BEFORE I dye next time :P Thanks Ladies :)

There is still a bit of stain there, I think I will just have to wait for it to fade..or maybe it is permanent damage from something else I put on it LOLOL

Hey Leigh, what a great colour!

I have been a hairdreser for a few years, and we used hair dye to get rid of hair dye stains on skin, by rubbing the dye into the stained spots with your thumb and massage it gently until the spot vanishes. Best done when the spots are still wet though.

Best prevention is to spread some vaseline around your hair line next time ;) conditioner is also great but it is too runny, hence can get quite messy.

By the way, if hairdye ever gets onto your clothes, the best way to rid of it is to spray hair spray onto the offending spots while they are still wet, wait for the hair spray to dry up then throw them into the wash.

For red shades, try not to shampoo your hair within 48 hours of coloring, as that is when the color will most likely run and hence, fade.

Leigh an old trick we used to use in the dark hairdressing ages was to wet some cigarette ash on some cotton wool & rub the hairline with it. You have to do it straight away but it works really well.
It even took off black stain.
I found it gross to do as I hate cigareetes but it does work.

Noone will have an excuse for next time now, lots of great ideas :)

I had read that somewhere the other day Trace when I went searching, thought eww that sounds a bit gross. And we quit smoking so I don't think I could bring myself to doing that :eww: I guess if you were desperate tho
