Has anyone used these? Apparently they are just like a Visa card - you can put any amount (more than $25?) on them and they can be spent anywhere that accepts visa ... like a gift voucher but can be used more places.

Was wondering if anyone has tried it?

I saw those in a mag the other day and meant to look up the site, but forgot. They look like a really good idea. Coles Myer vouchers are pretty good, cover a lot places... but if you could get one that worked just about anywhere, very handy.

Heres the site www.prepaidshop.com.au

hmmm $6.50 additional fees per card ... could get costly (I had to fake an order to get that information, mind you - couldn't find it in any of their FAQs or other information). Also another $6.50 for express post if you want it.

Not a bad idea, especially for o/s gifts, but for now I think I'll stick to the coles myer card, they don't charge a processing fee.

I saw that in the FAQ but thought it was just postage. They charge that for each card? That's a bit much. Wouldn't mind a couple of $$..not that much

What a shame about the fees :(

I got all excited when I read the first post.

It would be handy though if you don't have a cc and were going overseas :)

Yeah...would be handy for a larger amount and OS.

Westpac offers the same thing on the mastercard network... http://www.westpac.com.au/internet/publish.nsf/Content/PBTSGC+Gift+card a little cheaper at $4.95

Also found www.bopo.com.au, tho not who they are or how good they would be, no big bank backing it.

They are a great idea - even for those who don't have a credit card and just need one every now and then to place make orders online or over the phone. Although, I think ANZ have a debit card option of something like that anyway.

But just recently I needed to change a flight and they would only do it over the phone if I had a cc so I had to use my mums. Things like that it would be good AND if you don't use it all within the 12 months, then just go shopping to get rid of it all before it expires :hehe:

Cal would love the thought of having a 'credit card' and going beserk with it. I might think about putting his xmas money on one for him..he would think it was a blast. Then I could trick him and tell him that it has to be paid back like a normal credit card ....LMAO

I have seen the AMEX ones but not Visa. I think they are great to have and to give as gifts. My gfriends son gets them for his bday and Christmas, and is very careful where he spends his $$ He is 13. He will even go online and compare prices.

What a brilliant idea! I'm going to look into it for Christmas for relatives!
