Branden wants to have a BBQ and pool party for his 8th birthday in January, I was thinking that we could do away with the party cakes, and do something like just meat and salads ie,
Antipasto Platter - 300 gms Green Stuffed Olives, 300 gms Black Pitted Olives, 250 gms Semi-Dried Tomatoes, 150 gms Salami, 150 gms Prosciutto, Water Crackers, 300 gms Stuffed vine Leaves, 250 gms Blue Cheese, 200 gms Camembert, 250 gms Fetta Cheese. or
350 gms Kabana,300 gms Jarlsberg, 400 gms Australian Tasty Cheese, 250 gms Leicester Cheese, 250 gms Smoked Cheddar, 250 gms Green Olives, 250 gms Black Olives, 200 gms Sun Dried Tomatoes, 300 gms Roasted Mushrooms or both, or do you think that a child will still want party food:dk:
Obviously, I will have to make some salads and no doubt he will still want chips and dips, and probably lollies ......
I always like to prepare for these things early LMAO

I would just give them BBQ sausages in a bread roll along with a couple of packs of chips, pop corn and cans of drink, and a salad too. But then again, I'm slack and look for easy stuff.

OMG, I thought that was being slack ....
I'm with Mel, snag sizzle, junky party food & a cake done :)
Yep, sorry, I'm with Mel and Tina on this one.
Those recipes sound more suitable for adults. Kids love junky food at parties and I'm pretty sure that the salads will go to waste.
Sausage sizzle is more kid style.

But, the junky party food always goes to waste because the kids just want to play, and it is going to be a pool party, so I thought the other food would get eaten by the adults. :D

I still think that a good ol' BBQ with steak, snags, bread, chips and soft drinks would do the trick. It's a kids birthday party. I think that antipasto platter is a bit much for a kids birthday/pool party. JMI though.
I'm sure it'll be fun no matter what you have :D

I have had pool parties for kids and from bitter experience, I can only suggest that the food be placed WELL AWAY from the pool.
If it's a hot day, think about jellies and ice blocks...........because the little delights will think that they can eat and swim at the same time.

Hmmm, you girls are probably right.
It is usually stinkging hot on his birthday, so even a BBQ is going to be tough enough LMAO

Looks like we will have a sausage sizzle. We will go down to my grandparents to celebrate Marks (his BD is the day after Brandens), my Mums (Her BD is 4 days after Brandens) and Brandens birthday at the same time, then just have a pool party at home for Branden with his friends.
And of course we will have chips, and ICEBLOCKS and the very important birthday cake!!!!
Seems better doesn't it ;)
