THREE children have hanged themselves after seeing footage of former Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein's execution on television.

This is really a terrible thing to happen.

why do parents let their children watch these things, they should be held responsible. That is my opinion anyway. We never let our children see all the bad stuff going on, hell I don't even watch the news.

Five years ago, in September, I woke up very early in the morning....couldn't get back to sleep.....so turned the TV on.
The images of a tower in New York on fire......and of people jumping to their deaths will be with me forever.
By the time the rest of the family were up and heard the news, those pictures had been censored and were never seen again in any future news broadcast, for which I am grateful as no 9 or 10 year old needs to witness such disturbing footage.
Children do not have the experience nor the facility to be dispassionate about current affairs.
Yes Julie....the parents should be held responsible for what their children watched.....you can never be too careful.

That is something I wouldn't want to see. So there is no way any child should see anything like that, it is child abuse in my eyes.

How can parents let their kids watch that??? Especially something that violent, I get too depressed watching the news so I dot watch it and it also saves the boys from seeing that much violence and hate

yes, but how many of us as kids snuck in at night times and hid behind the couch to sneak a peak at what was on tv, I know I did.

Heather, I remember seeing the people jump from the towers too, it was really eerie and we were like OMG are they people jumping out the windows.

We dont have the news on in this place either, DS2 (almost 11) gets very upset over hearing stuff like that, even when kids get lost (but are found) he starts to cry. Hes very sensitive like that. Doesnt want any one hurt, and doesnt think anyone should die, no matter how bad

How irresponsible - I totally agree with you all - children do not need to see such horrible things going on. Life is tough enough once they grow up without ruining their childhood!

Oh that is just awful that any of them saw that to begin with. I didn't want to see it...

For three children to die over an awful man's death just makes me ill.

Why would the parents let their children watch that? And even if they had, maybe they could have tried to explain it to them.
