Anyone heard of it? My sis is law is looking at buying this for my nephew's 4th birthday later this year. I'm curious as to what it is and it is really any benefit?

Gloria, I haven't used it but I've read about it on parenting websites and people seem to rate it. I'd be interested if anyone else has feedback on it though.

We've looked at them for the last two christmas'!! My problem is that throughout the rest of the year I don't really see many of the products. We ended up getting some software for Zoe to use on the computer instead. A quarter of the price and she is becoming computer literate at the same time. The one we got is Australian made and based on the curriculum they use at school so she learning the correct way to prepare her for school next year.

Having said all that a friend bought one and said it's great!!!

eBay seems to sell a bit of the Leap Pad stuff, and I've seen it in the bigger Myer stores. I like the idea of computer software though - Hugo is already dead keen to be on the computer (in fact I have had some computer issues this past week because in his over-excited keyboard mauling he renamed my Start Up folder as something like vfvfppf''fd, among other things, and the poor computer had no idea what was going on).

Leap pad have so many different products.

I wanted the inlaws to buy the kids the leap pad game, that was like a playstation, with the cartridges. But they didn't LOL Instead they go them a laptop thing, that had all sorts of educational games in it. The kids enjoyed these.

I got one for my son aged 5 as a birthday present, and originally I was concerned that he wouldn't rate it as he is more of an 'Action Figure' kinda kid. But he loved it and it is the one thing he plays with consistently everyday.

They have some fantastic books that include subjects like, phonics, maths, reading and writing, sciences, languages etc.

It can be expensive the books are $30 each, but I wait for the sales and pick them up for about $23.

We are driving to Melb next week and the Leap pad will defiantely be coming with us.

My neices and nephews come around and it's the first thing they all head for, so much so that the Aunts and Uncles have all put them on layby for their kids for Christmas this year.

;) They are a winner with my 3 yr old....she was 2 at the time and I bought her the leap pad See & Learn Piano and it was great.....she started to notice the shapes and colours.....I have her in day care now and she picks things up quickly. Not because of the Leap Pad. I also got her the Leap Pad learning flip book.... even though she isn't aware of the information in it she still has a go at it and it keeps her quiet for a few hours atleast :pam: :D They are Pricey :2c: :2c:
