Isn't this nice in here. Just us girls to have chats and keep in touch. I was surfing the net looking for something completley different and found this and couldn't leave it. I found it so interesting. I have an eleven year old son whe has Asperges Syndrome (autism) and ADHD and I reccon I am going to find it very helpful to talk to others about things. I am a single parent and don't really have anyone close when I just need to let off steam of ask for advice. I look forward to talking to everyone through the forums. Thanks Debbie:D

You will enjoy it here...I swear.
I have worked as a Teachers Aide (Special) with children diagnosed with Aspergers from 5 to 13 years of age and although certainly no expert, will help if I can.
I have also worked with boys with ADHD..and I think that is the hardest to cope with.

Thanks Heather Ann. You may be of great help to me with my son. The whole reason I was surfing the net yesterday was because my son is in grade seven this year and I am worried about his trans into high school. He has been in the special ed unit at his school since grade three and won't go to a normal class and I can see lots of trouble with him next year. See I'm getting ready for MY stressing now. lol

Hi Debbie, Is your son going into a mainstream class in high school?
One of my very close friends has a son with autism, he goes to the Autistic school here, so thru their family I have met a number of kids with varying degrees of Autism, it must be sooo difficult for you doing it on your own. There are lots of wonderful ladies at AFW that are here to offer support or just to chat to whenever you feel the need:)

Thanks Mel, My boy dosn't go into any mainstream classes. The teachers and I have tried many times over the years but he still stays in the Special Ed Unit. He's terrified of a class room. That is a problem that I am worried about this year is how are we going to deal with high school next year. He also goes to Autism Queensland three days a week. He is learning sooooo much from them. They are great with the kids. It would be good if he could just keep going there but he only has one year left and he has to finnish. The teachers at both school have a transision programe for him this year so I am going to see what they have in store to help him. I know my boy and I know now that he is not going to cope with high school. We will muddle it through. At least I have learn't over the years not to listen to everything that I have to do with my son but to follow my own instincts. No body knows my son the way I do. The teachers have my phone number on the speed dial at school they call me so much. lol:D
