FACIAL piercings might give cred at the bar, but they still bomb at job interviews.

Personally I don't like face or body piercings. I will never understand why someone would pierce their tongue I can't even handle the pain when I bite my tongue. And it doesn't make it look any prettier it just looks like a tongue with a hunk of steel through it. Oops, is there anyone here who has one or thinks it looks good?

I inwardly cringe...but it is because I really don't understand how they can eat, kiss, blow noses etc.
It in no way affects their capacity to work nor lowers their intelligence.
Pierced ears are acceptable........well perhaps just one hole in each lobe.
When you think about it, it is really only a form of adornment that has been around for centuries in many cultures and only recently hijacked by anti-establishment types who gave piercings a bad rep.
To each their own.

hey, a friend sent me an email a few weeks ago about men putting these plastic tube things on their Doodle & it must stretch it & then they put longer tubes on because some Doodles were about 12 inches long, i thought "well what will they do with that, so what i am getting at is how the hell would they get a job they wouldn't get pants to go over their Doodeys

That is a strange e-mail for someone to send you Di. Do you always get e-mails like that? What does your husband think?

Even tho I don't like facial piercings I think it's a pity we can't look past it and judge the person on their ability. I've been served by young people with lots of facial piercings - and walked away thinking what a lovely well mannered person - after initially looking critically at them.

I agree that it doesn't make a difference at all on personality....but someone also has to understand the consequences getting a piercing may have on their professional life before they have it done. Society doesn't change overnight...

Strange how it all works-I mean I do not have anything but my ears pierced but really it does not bother me that other people do. I mean I see people everyday walking around with scarfthings on their heads, ring thingys around their necks etc.Somebody said something about other cultures have been doing similiar stuff for years, these people do live among us and everyone accepts what they wear so why can it not be that we accept everyone. If everyone were the same the world would be awfully boring. As long as they do their job properly and with courtesy I do not see that there is an issue.

I think its unfair that people are judge by what they look like. Just because some people have a few piercings doesnt mean they are stupid
Well, I have a nose piercing and I have never had any problems with job interviews. I don't wear great big nose rings or anything like that, just a very small gold stud, which you can barely see.
And I don't have any trouble blowing my nose! :hehe:
I've had mine for ages and I love it. I'd feel a bit bare without it, just as most of you would probably feel bare without your pierced earrings.
I do, however, feel that people with facial piercings should adapt their jewellery to suit the situation when applying for jobs.
For example, if I were going for a Personal Assistant/Secretary position (which is what I have done for over 20 years), I wouldn't wear a great big ring in my nose, I would wear a very small elegant stud.
In saying that, I agree that facial piercings have nothing to do with one's intelligence or capabilities to carry out their jobs.

Yes I agree Angie that people shouldn't be judged just because they have piercings . I have people very very very close to me with body piercings that they had before I met them and I still don't understand the point of them. People can't even see these ones so why bother? Each to there own, yes and my own is I will never understand. And I don't mean a little nose stud I'm talking about rings through lips etc. Maybe I will get used to them one day and find them attractive and maybe even get a few myself. :hehe:
