Ok I must be slack cause i brought this thing called the V slicer and it slices just about anything into just about evey shape. I do make chips and stuff myself now cause its easy and cool, and salads are so much easier does anyone else know about them?

I think the V slicer is also known as a mandolin (not the musical kind LOL). Funny you should bring this up as I was just looking at some the other day. Trev loves potato bake and the worst part of the job is slicing the potatoes. This is where the mandolin came to mind.

Do you like using it?

My Mum has one, and she uses it for all sorts, but mostly it gets used for making the coleslaw. I have got one, not as fancy as Mum's, but I will be honest, I have never used it! :dk: Maybe when it gets back to summer weather, and salad times again, I will give it a go! Would be good for slicing onions for the BBQ, and potatoes for scallops?? Hmm, might dig it out from the back of the cupboard. ;)

I have bought something similar, but it was a cheap and nasty one and was usless. I would like a good one to cut thin potatoes and for cutting onion, would be so handy.

I don't do any cooking or preparing of food if I can get out of it (slack I know) but my partner absolutely loves his v slicer and it gets dragged out of the cupboard every chance he gets. Only trouble is I have to do the washing up (because I don't cook) and I inevitably cut myself, so watch your fingers ladies, it's a nasty little sucker sometimes. :faint:

We had a cheap version of it that we used to use all the time but hubby put the base in the dishwasher and its a bit wonky lol and too difficult to use now ;( . But I have been thinking of getting a new one- especially with summer coming up.

I was accidently watching ch10 and saw an infomercial for this. It look fantastic, until I saw the price ... :O
I would like something similar, but there is no way I am paying $90 for it.

My OH keeps nagging me to get one but didn't know if they would be any good. I've seen similar ones in the Homeware and Betterware catalogues for around $30 or $40 so maybe next time a catalogue gets dropped off I might get one.

The homeware/bettware is the one that I purchased that wasn't that great.

Might have to look out at the cheapy shop, or eBay.
