View Full Version : Proposal stories
Seems to be lots of weddings happening atm, got me thinking to Gra and I. I think Gra just said You know we'll get married one day ..and I think I said Yeah LOL. And that was it. Nothing romantic at all!
Any proposals written in the sky? Billboard proposals maybe?

My proposal was sweet... FH whisked me off to Melbourne, took me to a fancy restaurant and proposed... the restaurant people knew so they made a big fuss and I got all embarrassed.
I knew the proposal was coming because FH was working in Brueni and had tried to surprise me but didn't make it back to Australia... so in his normal fashion of not being able to keep a secret, told me all about his failed plans to get back to Oz. :)

not romantic as such, we were just walking along talking, as you do and he just stopped and looked at me and said "Marry me?". Very unplanned, so no ring or anything (not unplanned as in unexpected, we had talked about it, but the proposal itself was unplanned). Did the ring thing later on over dinner etc, but I still consider the original proposal as my proposal story.

We were on our way back from a chrissie holiday with my family in Townsville, had a hire car and were doing the driving thing. We stopped at a cattle station that has accommodation called "NARDOO". Zoe was in bed and we were skinny dipping in the artesion spa, crystal clear star filled skies and Stu was getting all mushy and deep and meaningful, and he just said can I ask you a question? Will you marry me? I didn't think he was for real! He was always trying to see what I would say before he asked so I thought that's what he was doing, so I just said - You know I will. No ring, he said it just felt like the perfect moment. We picked out a ring set when we got home from holidays.....VERY ROMANTIC!!!
Speaking of rings.. when my daughter Erin got engaged.. Gav just couldn't wait any longer and gave her the Ring at a BP service station when they were fueling up!! They had picked out the ring weeks before and he was going to do something really romantic for her  ..so he says LOLLOL that's his story and he's sticking to it !
We had been ring shopping and he said I would have to wait till I got it I said thats fine and went about my buisness when we got home and he was suprised that i was not bugging him for it and I said when the time is right you will ask me. Then I was making coffee for us he krept up behind me and said, I'm not going to keep you waiting any longer will you marry me? I jokeingly said um oh well I dont know!!! Then laughed as he looked hurt I started laughing and said yes of course. And that was it not really romantic but I liked it as it was differant just like me. :D :)

My man and I were in the snow for the weekend. He took me for a walk and I strangely didn't ask why he had a backpack. He got down on his knees in the snow, presented me with an amazing ring (which he'd had hand-made) and asked me to marry him. After I said yes, of course, out came the champagne and glasses from the backpack.

We planned on getting engaged on my 18th & surprise everyone. We went ring shopping and purchased the ring about 2 months beforehand. I used to try the ring on every night after work in the hope he would tell me to keep it on but it never worked. Then about 5 weeks before my 18th, we had gone out for dinner at our local chinese restaurant and he snuck the ring in his pocket. So, of course, half way through the dinner, he popped it out. Was very romantic & emotional. :x
