Do you or family members live far away?

Apart form my own family I have 2 cousins living here on the Coast, but my parents, brothers, sister, neices, nephews etc (and I have lots) all live in Victoria, so I miss them a lot.

I often think how great it would be to have everyone closer.

If your family members are far away, how do you feel about it? Do you ring or email a lot?

I live in Hong Kong and everyone else lives in Australia... I have some days where I miss them and then other days I don't.

I've always been very independant so I don't find that I get really sad about being away from them but I think that the distance has brought my mother and I closer.

Most my communication is via email but I do speak to my mum a bit more regularly, but that's probably more because she's been helping me a lot with organising our wedding. I have 2 brothers and I don't speak to them much at all. I'll call one of my brothers to have a chat to his kids (5 and 2 1/2) and they love chatting on the phone. :)

DHs family mostly lives in the UK so they are far away. He does the phone/email thing a bit but not like every day or anything. We go there every few years to visit. His mum and sister are really close by so we see them regularly.

My family are spread all over the Eastern states, we aren't really close so there is some occasional phone contact, email and visiting, moreso since H was born, obviously. I have a sister not too far away and we visit/phone all the time.

I don't mind too much about the distance but would be terribly upset if my sister moved or I moved so we weren't close anymore, especially as she has a little girl a bit younger than Hugo and I love that they are growing up together.

We are in Albury, I have mum and my sister and her family in Townsville, Dad in South Pambula, another sister in Gippsland and another one in West Gippsland. I have a brother too but never really sure where he is cos he travels around for work!. Email and phone is great for our family, when we are speaking that is! Having a family barney at the moment....wont' go there! Being apart always helped our family actually become closer believe it or not (until recently!)

We are in Victoria, most of my family are in Victoria - some only a few km's away and others a few hours. I have also got a half sister & half brother who are in Perth. I have also got another half brother in Townsville QLD. I have never met them face to face. I was only able to contact them earlier this year so have only spoken to them on the phone & emailed each other. My husbands Mum lives in Perth along with his step dad and half sisters. I also have relatives in the UK.

Townsville must be the hotspot where all escaping relatives move to. LOL

All my family live in Townsville except my second brother who lives in Victoria. Trev on the other hand, all his family moved from Townsville to south east Queensland. It's relatively easy to see them and usually visit them two or three times a year.

Most of my family is nearby. Most of DHs family is overseas (only his Mum is in Australia), but he doesn't keep in touch with them.

My sister recently had an operation and that's when the miles apart are really noticed! I wish I could be right there in hospital with her, but had to settle for a phone call :) She is recovering well btw As my parents are elderly and in Vic, I wish I was closer so I could do more things for them. .

sister is in india...
but with my paents, i somehow feel closer when we're apart... coz we are more concerned and not prone to.. x( ...teeehhee
we call often though the phone costs are..... :faint: ..teehehhee
emails with my sis... and yes, the reliable chat when it comes to my friends!!!
