I've been thinking about selling some stuff on ebay for ages so last week, I pulled out all my maternity clothes that I wanted to sell. Anyway, as I've never sold anything before, I thought I'd try it with a pair of jeans, see how it went. These jeans are almost new, over belly stretch denim. One of the selling tips is start the bid lower to encourage more bidders. So I started at 99 cents with a 10 day bid. Its only at $1.04 at the moment with 3 days left.

I feel so stupid for starting as low as 99 cents  , basically I will not profit whatsoever from this sale if it stays at this price, as you have to pay a listing fee and a final price fee.

On the other hand, someone out there has just bagged themselves a tremendous bargain!!!!!!! :winner:

*sigh* Live and learn I suppose. Just wanted to share.

You never know it might go higher, from what I've seen on ebay there seems to be a rush of bids at the very end of the auction.

Good Luck :)

Good luck - it might go higher.

One thing someone told me is to start just below your accepted rate - that way you won't loose out too much.

Good luck, fingers crossed it'll go higher.

When I was pregnant, these kind of jeans, as opposed to the ones with the stretchy fabric panel over the bump, always went for a lot (especially if they were pumpkin patch brand) but the price always went way up at the end of the auction. More and more people are using sniper software now.

(The only thing is, maybe people aren't looking for jeans so much now that the weather is getting warmer?)

I hope you get a rush of bidding at the end of the auction to make it worth your while.

Didnt think of the weather factor Naomi. Thanks for pointing that out.

Well, in the past couple of days the bids gone up to 5 bux so at least thats something. I kind of felt like I was being a whingey greedy so and so after my first post, but thats not what my original feeling was about. I felt like I shouldve at least made a bit of a profit!!

But tis cool, I have a ton of stuff to sell, but after Naomi's weather related comment I have to think twice as its skivvies and a few more maternity trousers. I suppose overseas buyers can bid too. We'll see.

Thanks for the good luck shout outs girls!!!

How's the bidding going?

I never bid until the very last minute, as I am sure a lot of other people do. So I wouldn't worry too much.
99c is a gamble, and unless you have an item you know will get a lot of interest, just to be on the safe side.

I too, generally start just below what I would be happy to get, that way there is no disappointment.

Good luck, you will have to show us what else you are selling, maybe someone here would be interested.

Yay, it sold for 15.50. Im happy about that. I mean, it wouldnt have been THAT much of a big deal if it had sold for around the 2 dollar mark, just with the fees you have to pay ebay, I probably would've had to pay ebay out of my own pocket!

So now, I have to see what else I have. Its just mainly clothes that I've worn one or two times, but they're mostly skivvies and jeans (maternity jeans) and maternity trousers too. We'll see. I mean, if you've just become pregnant and you're around the 6 week mark you'll be carrying for most of the summer so Im not sure if I should put them up for auction just yet.

I will now trawl through the cupboards for kitschy things and videos/dvds we dont want. We tried selling Grand Theft Auto San Andreas on playstation and ebay found out and pulled the auction coz its now banned and considered adult material! We got reported, I think, from a rival seller because there were about 3 other people selling the game and no one had reported them.

Are we allowed to sell stuff to eachother then, on this board?
