View Full Version : Petrol Prices
Are they effecting you?
I no longer drive a V8 Landcruiser - that was a thirsty beast let me tell you. I now have a tiny A Class Benz (the ones that look like a mouse) and the fuel economy is fantastic. I have driven 414 klms so far on just under half a tank :)
Petrol on the Gold Coast was $121.7 today. So gone down from last weekend $130 - but no doubt it will raise back to that come the weekend x( .

The cost of Petrol stinks! My partner is lucky that the car he drives to work is a work car so we don't cover the cost of fuel.... He works for his brother...So he foots the tab.... hehehe :tree: yay! :Hehe:

I've had to turn down some promotion opportunities for my business because I can't afford the petrol :(

Petrol Prices ahhhhh yes, what a drama to a low budget. I filled my Subaru yesterday ay $1.32 a litre. $62 worth of fuel, and being school holidays and having 2 girls here doing part time work, will probably only last a week. Did 2 trips to town yesterday, hopefully only one today and will have 2 tomarrow. My sisters live out at Longreach and are paying $1.42 at present. OOOOOOuuuuucccccchhhhh.

We paid $1-28 yesterday but that was with an 8 cent discount voucher, but last week it was up to $1-48.9 here. We are trying so hard to not drive around too much.

I paid $1.42 here today. I realy think twice about jumping in the car and going places just for the sake of some thing to do.

Apparently more people have gone back to using public transport in response to increased petrol prices in Sydney. We are paying around $1.30 a litre - I remember when I thought 69c was expensive! It has made a noticible difference to our petrol costs, not to the point of not driving yet, but I do think twice now.

I still remember when petrol was 49.9 cente a litre. When it went over the 50c mark I thought what a huge price it was. :O

Yes, I remember that as well. I remember when we went camping one year and couldn't believe that the country service stations were charging over 60c when we were only paying around the 47c mark. I'd be more than happy to pay 60c now!!

It has been about $1.37 here. It is annoying, but we havn't changed our habits just yet.
We still remember how much petrol used to cost us in a V8, $25 every second day. So the now $60 a week this car is costing, still a saving.

Living in a rural area does have its down sides and the price of petrol at the moment is one of them. It costs Adam about $80 week to get to work and me the same if I go to town more than once a week. Really going to have to talk Callum into catching the bus. The bad thing about the bus is that it takes an hour and a half when you can do the same thing in the car in half an hour.....makes it a very long day for him...I usually feel sorry for him and go and get him.

I'd like to see the government taxes on petrol being spent on research into alterntaive energy and hybrid cars, and improving public transport. Petrol has to become more expensive and the writing's been on the wall for years - it's running out. I think the government (led by the US Government) should start looking into some alternatives.
