Do you have it in your household? Here (http://www.courant.com/news/health/hc-newrule0518.artmay18%2C0%2C3624198.story?coll=hc-headlines-health) is a story about it.

It applies here :)

We have a no second rule. once it falls on the floor or on the table, if we are dining out, it is trash.

The five second rule applies in my house...that's how long it takes for the dog or cat to clean it up.

If are at home and I know our floors are clean at the time, then we use the rule but eating out or out in public, definately not!

In our house, if it hits the floor, its in the bin.... before our 20 month old little darling shoves it into her mouth!!

As some of you know, I operate a child care center in my home. Lots of things fall on my floors. Everything gets tossed. No 5, 10 or 15 second rule here.

No 5 second rule here either. I'd never heard of it actually. If we were out and someone ate something that had fallen on the floor, someone would suffer (and it wouldn't be me):uhno: :D At home, if I know the floor is clean then it's OK, depending on what the food was!

5 second rule, 10 second rule, 20 second rule, 45 second rule...it's all the same. If I drop food on the floor I pick it up and I eat it! I have a good strong immune system, so I don't worry about it. Unless I'm eating out, then I don't.

To be honest I have not heard of this rule either. I don't drop food on the floor that often but when I do I put it in the bin, unless it's chocolate and then this 5 second rule probably does apply to me.

The 5 second rule does apply at home but not when we're out.

if it's sweet ( there is no rule )
but if there is anykind of dirt or animal hair it would b dirty soon as it hits the floor

Yep...it's a five second rule here too...or longer if they couldn't be bothered getting off the dinning chair to pick it up straight away...most of the time, though what goes on the floor stays on the floor until I clean up after meals. The kids aren't that interested in eating off the floor unless it's lollies...Accept Aiden...if I dont clean up straight after dinner he will come back later and scrounge...he's a garbage guts LMAO...

And as for the table...the boys went through a stage where they wouldn't eat their meals off the plate, they would tip it to the table first...so if we had a no table eating rule, they would've starved! LMAO...and Aiden at the moment gets a kick out of tipping his DRINK on the table and licking it up...guess he hangs around Claire too much!...

For us it depends on what it is that's dropped, or if the dog gets it first (she's very quick) haha :)
