Last night after shopping (and refreshing our vegitable supplies) I peeled and cut up all our 'old' vegies, chucked them in the slow cooker and let them stew away til now we have the yummiest vegitable soup for dinner tonight...
I froze three lots as well...they can be used as bases for other soups or stews or in mince or something (it's chunky soup)...
Since we lost our guinae pigs I've hated throwing out the vegies that go yuck before we eat them...now I know what to do with them!...very pleased with myself :D
I love my slow cooker! :x
One of the best inventions ever!

Old veggies can also be cooked and mashed to use as a base for meat patties or vege burgers....even vege fritters. Again just freeze until needed.

Isn't it great Teena - I make a huge pot of soup every Sunday as I go grocery shopping every Monday and buy a heap of fresh vegies for the week.
So whatever vegies are left every Sunday get put in :d:

I'm afraid I must be very wasteful I throw away any vege that is not fresh, I make soup for my youngest daughter and freeze it in small pottles for her to take back to uni with her at least that way I know she is getting something warm and nutritious but always use fresh veges mind you we have a huge vege garden maybe if I had to buy them I might think twice

You are naughty.....I think he would probably stop and pick it up....she doesn't cook....they have a lot of takeaways or simple food like hamburgers or processed meat....think nuggets.
Or so I've been told by the TT.
