Bobby Brown and Whitney Houston have been named the year's tackiest couple.

The singers were crowned the most tasteless celebrity pair by an American magazine.

Second in the poll were Hollywood stars Katie Holmes and fiance Tom Cruise.

And pop star Britney Spears and her dancer husband Kevin Federline came in third in the Star magazine list.

The magazine said self-confessed drug abusers Whitney and husband Bobby Brown deserved the award for airing too much dirty laundry in public.

They said: "Thanks to their reality show, viewers were introduced to a whole new level of marital crudeness.

"Whitney and Bobby made viewers cringe as she talked about how he helped her overcome constipation."

Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes were voted second for their "tornado" romance.

The magazine said: "They met, got engaged, and got pregnant in less than six months." And new mum Britney Spears and dancer husband Kevin Federline were nominated for their lack of taste.

One reader commented: "She's a has-been and he's a never was."

The magazine quizzed more than 35,000 readers in its latest issue, out now.

On-off British couple Jude Law and Sienna Miller also make the list at fifth.

A reader said: "The couple who cheat together, stay together.

"They have such low standards."

I'd have to add Bec and Lleyton to that list ... I read the WD article with all their photos of the new baby. Bleurch! What a load of tripe. Why do celebrity new mums always 'glow in their new role as mum' and 'slip effortlessly back to their pre-pregnancy figure' and have babies who sleep through the night from birth and are 'well-behaved' (Bec's words - OMG, she's a freaking NEWBORN, it's not like she can be badly behaved, it's all instinctual).

Mmmm sounds all a bit too surreal for me, she looks so made up (of course she is) she looks like she has just had a holiday, no given birth...and what is with Lleyton standing there with no shirt on :O find that really weird...she is just way over the top, heavens knows how much they will be paid for all that...fan fare...sorry but she is just a soapie star...big deal:P

I'm also sick of hearing celebrity Mum stories. My favourites have to be Gwynneth Paltrow & Brooke Shields coming out about PND - that is fantastic, and something I can actually relate to!

Blayton (Bec/Leighton) were paid 7-figures for a year exclusives with WD, I believe. I guess this means WD have to come up with 52 different angles to get 52 stories during the year so they can get their money's worth... can't wait for next week's headline: Baby Vomits On New Mum's Shoulder.

I can't believe Angelina and Brad ("Brangelina") aren't in the Top 10 list of tacky couples. Their pre-nup is weird - they're allowed to cheat!
