So, book 7 comes out soon. I've read all the others so I have to read this one :hehe: but I'm going to wait until Big W or KMart have it on sale.
Is anyone counting down the days until it's released?

I've read them all as well and I will probably read the last one but I'm not in any hurry to get it. I didn't enjoy the last book as much as the rest of them but I can't not read the ending.

Have to agree...I'm a bit over Harry Potter but I think it's been a fantastic series of books.

You know I have never read one line or even a word of any of the Harry Potter books.
I am sure they are fantastic but they just don't grab me, my step mother loves them.
I haven't even watched the movies.

I've enjoyed the books....and the movies....but am quite happy to wait until the hype is over. The TT was over HP years ago...hasn't even read the last two books.

I've enjoyed both the books and movies. When is the last book out?
I will also wait for Big W or K-mart as it's much cheaper than bookshops.

We are off to see the movie on Thursday
The boys want to have a Harry Potter DVD day tomorrow. So we are going to watch all 4 movies. It's going to be a long day - but dvd days are great :)
Looking forward to seeing the movie more on Thursday though.

That sounds like a great idea. I have been trying to watch the movies over the last couple of weeks on TV but have fallen asleep during each of the movies!!!!
I might need to rent them over the weekend and do that.

I'm with the rest of you - will wait till it's on special - but more importantly, in paperback LOL I bought the others in that format and used to have a teenager who leant me her hardcover within a couple of days of the release so I could read, then I'd buy it when it came out in hardcover. Now though, will have to wait forever or go and hang out at the local high school and befriend a new teenager LMAO

I have atleast the first 3 dvds and pretty sure i have the forth one. If not im going to have to get it. Just cant quite remember. I soooo cant wait to get them.

We saw it on Wednesday...not too bad (at least I didn't fall asleep)....follows the book but with gaps so that unless you knew the story, I think you might be a tad lost. The TT noticed that it seemed rushed.
None of the last four pictures have had the same magical (pun intended) feeling that the very first brought out in me.....it is still my favourite.

I went to see the movie on Sunday. It didn't seem to go for over 2 hours, it went really quickly but I did feel there where parts that where rushed. I suppose they have to lose parts of the book.
I went to see it with 2 friends who hadn't read the books but had seen the movies and they really enjoyed it. I filled in some of the blanks but because it had been acouple of years since I have read this book I had forgotten alot of it.
I still enjoyed it and can't wait to read the final book. Only acouple of days to go........yah :y: :y:

I love the books but I never could get into the movies at all. I was a bit dissappointed with the last book. My grandma bought me the first 4 as a set and I thought she was crazy because I didn't think I would ever read them. But as soon as I did I couldn't stop so she has bought me all of them since. She said she has it wrote down on her planner calendar to go buy it for me the day it releases :-D

The movies are not upto the book yet. We are only upto the fith movie while it is the seventh and final book on sale tomorrow. By the way i vote that no one is allowed to write up here what happens becuase that would spoil the book for everyone else and i cant get it until next week

JK Rollings is very upset seemingly in the USA a few shops have breached their contract and released the book ahead of time, the ending has been posted on the internet , she is pleading for owners of the book to keep the ending to themselves and not spoil it for others
mumofAdenandJai
22-07-2007, 08:33 PM
Apparently that was a fake ending that was posted on the internet. Havent looked yet to see as i am still reading the book. My gran brought it for me yesterdya.
I saw the movie last night and it was really good. Brett did say at times it was hard to follow and some things seem to come from no where. But he still really enjoyed it. I dont think it was rushed but i do feel that they couldve added a couple of things for those that havent read the books. Maybe they figured everyone who will be watching the movies have read the books who knows. I hope they do the final two movies as when they first started the movies they werent sure weather they would get to make them all.
Anyway got dishes to do. Catch you later

Isn't that funny, I have heard it is the right ending posted on the Internet...they have had big new stories on it and the author admitted it was right...not sure what to believe...but either way doesn't bother me...I dont read the books and I dont watch the movies...
My daughter loves them though...and went out straight away yesterday and bought the book...picked it up for $30...a bargain she says :)

Naomi the RRP isn't that much is it??? I paid $30 all up including postage, got it Wednesday night but didn't start reading it until yesterday morning. I tend to read them in one sitting so it annoyed me that I only had 30 pages to go at midnight last night and I was so tired I had to go to bed. :hehe:
I just finished it a little while ago...not sure if I am disappointed in the ending or not but without putting a spoiler up, I did feel it was a bit of an anti-climax. :brow:

I loved the book and the movie.
I loved the book and i have to say although it wasnt what i was expecting. I wasnt disapointed at all. So much was happening on every page.
The movie was excelent aswell. We sat up near the front and it was like we were insdie it.
Brett thought some of the stuff came from no where becuase he hadnt read the book so a couple of bits were hard to follow but it was pretty good all the same.
Anyway got to go

Yes, I thought the ending was a bit of an anti-climax - almost like she took the easy way out if that makes sense. I started reading it on Sunday and finished it on Wednesday night (hard to find big chunks of reading time lately). I did enjoy it though.

I haven't read it yet but I heard a review on the radio on Monday morning and the reviewer said that JK Rowling had always said that she had the ending of the series penned from the very beginning! (which I didn't know!) The reviewer also said that the end was anti-climactic which made it hard to believe that was the planned ending all along..? I found that interesting!

I thought the ending was great as it was something no one really expected. I really liked the fact that it gave the 19 years later part although i wouldve liked it to give it for a couple of the other characters as well.
I wasnt disapointed in the book at all. I thought that it all tied together well and even though it wasnt the ending i expcted i found it to be quite good.

my DF bought the first book last week and bought the second and third books yesterday. was shocked to see that it was $15.95, but he said they were worth it. he read over a hundred pages of the second book yesterday and is getting really into them. we have all the movies, except the last one, of course. i haven't gotten to watch them yet, but i've seen bits and pieces here and there and i think i saw the first one all the way through. my DF said i should watch all the movies first and then read the books. he thinks that the movies are better, only because the books have things in them that aren't in the movie that doesn't have to be in the movie. so we'll see. i usually like the books better than the movie, but i'm looking forward to watching the movies and reading the books.

Books are so expensive in Australia :( $15.95 US converts to about $19 AU which is fairly cheap for any fiction book, especially hardback.

WOW. that is alot! why is it that money there is so high?
Stormy
31-07-2007, 12:19 PM
GST, poorer value of the Australian dollar compared to US dollar, greedy companies...there's a few reasons...
But I think we have it lucky compared to the UK...there was a good column in the Sunday mail on the weekend about the difference between UK and Aus.

wow that's interesting. same thing with us and canada. and croatia, which is my nationality, is so cheap! 7 kune (their money) is equal to one american dollar. this is getting a bit off topic, sorry!

what's all over?! i'm confused!!
my DF bought another book..i think it's the 4th. just finished the 3rd tonight. i thought i was a fast reader! i need to start watching the movies, so i can read the books! his uncle is giving him the last book..so he only has a few more to buy.
Stormy

Well the seventh book was the last that JK Rowling was planning on writing about Harry Potter.
So in that sense, yes it is all over.
miss kiki
07-08-2007, 12:47 PM
oh. well, we still have two more movies to go..at least that's what my DF told me. the one that just came out was the 5th.
Naomi
07-08-2007, 02:24 PM
It's over in the sense that there is no more wondering what will happen, the last big climax has been read, there are no more surprises. The movies are just repeating the story already in the books.

ohh, i see. so is it getting boring then? i don't know what the climax is, so don't share please!! lol.

26-08-2007, 04:46 AM
my DF has all of them except 2. i think the 5th & 6th ones. i started reading the first one, got to the second chapter and stopped. i feel like it's repeating the movie and i should have read the book then watched the first movie and so on, but i felt like i was in rush to watch it in the theatres with my DF, so i couldn't do that. he watched all of them in the theatres alone and i really wanted to go with him to watch the 5th one together. so i didn't have enough time and crammed all the movies in within a weekend. i still don't know what happens and i'm sure my DF is going to spoil it for me, but just don't tell me please!! LOL.
Stormy
01-09-2007, 10:29 AM
Kiki the movies are based on the books, so yes they will be repeating them. :hehe: But as the books get bigger, more of the side plot lines are left out of the movies....
miss kiki
01-09-2007, 11:30 AM
oh i see. my DF explained alot of the parts that were excluded from the movies to me..so i'll just have him read them and explain certain parts that are missing in the movie! LOL.
Naomi

I finally got the last book and finished!!!!! I am VERY happy with the ending of the Harry Potter series and loved reading the last book. It's sad that it's all over!
I was a bit ... a lot ... disappointed with the ending. Actually pretty much the whole book was a bunch of cliches held together with mediocre writing. (I know I'm a bah humbug but I'm glad the series is finished, it was just getting too much and a bit repetitive).
miss kiki
01-09-2007, 01:09 PM
that's what my DF said about the books..they're very repetitive..he said they'll go back and refer to the book before about something, which can take a page or two..now, who would read book 4 if they haven't read the first 3? isn't harry potter supposed to be read or watched numerically and not just starting in the middle or something? ugh!
