Did you see how big it is?? 590ml...i've never seen a bottle that big!! I was speechless.... i just looked at my husban and didn't know what to say...
I don't even have dry skin...most people say i have the softest and smoothest skin they've ever seen!!

LMAO..I read the brand and thought it was something else at first LMAO :O
Is that all she gave you? Could she have spared the $2 to buy it? As they say it's the thought that counts, and you can tell no thought went into that at all.
You should keep it, and wrap and give it her her this year LOL

LOL @ Leigh yes thats what i saw at first too and freaked out a bit!! Thats the thing, i'm a big believer in 'Its the thought that counts' but this had no thought in it what-so-ever!! I don't think she even bought it.....i think she won it at bingo...just like the roses chocolates she gave my 14month old!! NO WAY I'd give my daughter Chocolates til she's at least 5 or 6...hubby and i ate them that night LMAO

Weird is the word for it...I must admit I got crap pressies when I was married, my ex-mother in law is a stingy cow and used to give my (ex)sister-in-law the same junk (most of it was rubbish that we would throw out), one year she gave us a roll on deodorants and mine had a hair on it (and it was half used as I put it up to the light and half the bottle was missing, now that is gross) what else, she gave me a tissue box cover and it was gross...a sun hat, that looked so dumb on me...a really ugly long stitch (just the canvas but no thread???) a really revolting clock...she just has no idea, always gives her 3 sons t-shirts and lollies as she has no idea under the sun...and I always gave her a nice book (like Patricia Cornwell) or a nice plant (she loves plants) and I ALWAYS ASKED HER, she never asked my or my ex sister in law (not once) so glad I am out of that family...she is just a wicked witch, my ex-sister in law has gone to qld to celebrate Christmas with her family instead of her hubby's she is so happy not have to see her...me too!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'd rather get nothing than junk or something second hand?? A used roll on deodrant is just beyond normal, even my ex-husband at the time was so ashamed of his mother...

MIL gave me a Christmas CD from the Knox Tavern - it's branded from them & everything. Looks like it was a give away... and DH will KILL me if I ever play it :Hehe:
I've also had strange presents from my Grandma when she was alive. For our 21sts, she gave my sister & I a hanky in a card!

Michelle..that bottle of moisteriser is such a thoughless gift. If I were you, I would be just as 'thoughless' as her next Christmas. You could give her a big bottle of foot powder of something and make her think she has smelly feet..lol
My mother is usually renowned for giving crap presents but this year she actually gave me some nice things.
I can remember one year my grandmother gave me a box of tissues for christmas though..lol

Am I the only one who would prefer nothing than a crap present? ;) I know I'd rather get no present than feel let down by someone who should know better... especially those close to me!

I'm with you Melissa. With my mother's gifts, most years I just keep them for a while and then give them away to St Vinnies. I have a small unit and not much storage space so I can't afford to keep things that I don't like and will never use.
I don't even really care about hurting her feelings either, because she once said to me 'I don't care if people like their presents just as long as I like them'. Lately she has been trying though, and I actually liked my presents this year.

how strange! What is the point in that? Isn't it better that the person receiving the gift likes it?
I was lucky in the gift stakes this year, but I agree that I would rather get nothing than a pointless gift.
Do you regift presents you don't want?

That's strange - I agree the receiver should like the gift...
Sometimes I regift gifts - especially if I receive doubles of something ;) Or I'll exchange them, if I know where they've come from.

I have come expect crappy presents from my aunts every single year.
They always give stuff that they've won at bingo each year.
This year amoungst other things I got some lavender soap on tap!
I'll use it but I thought that was a bit weird, its not like it unique or anything, perhaps she's never seen it before, not to sure.
Anyway, because I've come to expect it each Christmas and as I am a Avon rep. when the discount catologues come out, I buy up on the cheapest bargains and that is what they get from me for Christmas.
Works both way for me.
Everyone else in my family gets great, well thought out presents.

Naomi,
My mother is a pretty strange woman sometimes and can be quite selfish. She also tends to think that everyone should think like she should and if anyone thinks differently then they are wrong.
Over the years she has given presents to people fully well knowing that they will never wear the particular shirt or aftershave and she just doesn't care.

I think my mother is kind of strange. For the last few years we have been given a note telling us where she's donated the money she would have used to buy us a gift. The first year it was used to buy her sponsored child a bike. We all laughed, but when she talked about doing it for the kids as well, we thought it was a bit much as kids don't understand.

They say a picture paints a thousand words so here goes....

These shoes were given to me by Callum...they started off being a joke....he liked them because 'Kellie Osbourne' (his fave of the moment) wears some just like them.
But now he is asking me when I am going to wear them.....not sure how to tell him nicely that I won't be wearing them any where other than up the paddock to feed the goats LMAO LMAO

I like that - each year we get a few of the TEAR cards that basically tell you that instead of a gift, the giver has donated money towards, for example, vaccinations or school equipment.
Patric, they're schmick! Why won't you wear them? :Hehe:

Oh Patric, they're GOR-GE-OUS
I think you should wear them everywhere :jump:
My girlfriend once got the most hideous pair of sunglasses from her boys when they were young & she wore them all the time whenever she was with them. The smiles on their faces was priceless. They were so proud their mum was wearing them.
I don't think I have ever received a weird present. I have received used things before. My step MIL once gave me a cake dish WHICH WAS USED as it still had cake on it!!!! Oh & it also had a hair tie around the bubble on the top. She is probably the worst present giver!

Oh dear, fashion tips from Kellie Osbourne, that is scary LOL
They look like they need a matching house coat, and maybe a bow in your hair :Hehe: He is such a sweetie.

I think it's sweet, it means he thinks his mum is as cool as Kelly Osbourne (much and all as most of us wouldn't take that as a compliment, I think that's probably how it was intended)
Barbara

I agree!
You could always just wear them around the house (inside) & say you don't want to get them dirty :Hehe:
