aah so cute! We used to have a maltese terrier who loved apples, he would beg in front of the fridge until someone would get him an apple :)

Rachel Maggie is strating to chew anything & everything lol she has dragged our visitors shoes around she has hidden my slippers in her Igloo she even got into my GF wool & chewed it all up, i have her & hubby booked in for dog obedience on the first sat of next month he has a problem changing his nice tone when trying to get her to listen to him.
she is a real snail hunter always dragging them out of the garden first thing of a morning lol honestly there is never a dull moment o=in our house anymore & even Margot has been chasing balls the last few days so she has finally settled right in thankfully

jen, we buy the double toilet rolls (you know) they are the size of 2 rolls in one & Maggie has destroyed at least 3 of them it only takes for 1 person to forget to close the toilet door & she is in thee lol have to admit that we are still laughing at her silly naughty ways we just can't get cranky with her except today she got my rag doll off my bed that my beautiful SIL made me vefore she died 3 years ago with cancer she got it & chewed its sock off i was bloody cranky about that so i have had to put the doll away for now & the 2 Amish dolls that my old Aunty made me they have also been packed away, the funny thing is i had a rule with my kids & the Gkids that i would never put anything up high or away they were just taught not to touch
why can't i do it with a dog? maybe after obedience classes lol

Di,
My mother was told by a dog trainer that if a dog miss behaves you can put them in time out but don't make eye contact or talk to them while they are in time out. I don't know how true it is, because my mother only puts her dog in time out when he gets to boisterous. By the time he comes back in to the room he has settled down. Mum doesn't lock him outside, she just puts a gate up so he can't get into where we are. Oh and that includes the kitchen only because we are having cups of tea or coffee, and we would have to get him to move as he lays in front of the fridge. So there would go having any eye contact or talking to him, so it is best that he gets locked out just beyond the kitchen. He can still see everyone but he just can't interact with anyone.
As far as Maggie chewing on shoes, I gave our pups a thong (childs) to chew on. When I bought them I would rub it all over her so it had her scent on it, then every time she would try and take someone elses shoe I would give her thong to her. I would play with her with the thong just so she would know that it was OK to have the thong. I think also that the thong being so small helped her to know her thong was different to our shoes.
