after my dad left, my mom decided to get a dog to replace my dad. i was eleven when we got lucky, which is a maltese. of course in the beginning, all of us kids were fighting over who would feed lucky, walk lucky, etc. after a few years it got to the point where we could care less about poor lucky. we started going out, having our own lives, and my mom was the one that had to do all the walking and feeding the dog. i feel bad about not taking care of lucky the way i should have. especially now, that i want a dog so bad and i feel guilty that i didn't take good care of my old one. my mom had enough, so she sent lucky to live with my grandmother in croatia. lucky became a farm dog! he roams the streets, goes back home, chases tractors, etc. i would never imagine him being that way, considering he used to run away from my mom's and we would have to get a family search party to look for him. when i went there for my brother's wedding, it seemed as if he didn't really know me. he wouldn't come near me when i said his name. i don't know why he was like that! i was kind of hurt, since i was excited to see him and i haven't for a little over a year at that time. maybe he forgot my voice?! maybe he was mad that we sent him away, LOL, who knows. well, i miss my lucky and the way he used to sleep at the end of my bed. so i thought i'd write a thread of lucky and post a picture of him and me up. too bad the landlord won't let us have a dog, otherwise i think i'd pay for lucky to come back home, even though he's living the life in croatia.

I love Maltese Kiki, We had one for 15 years while I was growing up and my grandma has had 2 (she got hers when she fell in love with ours!) They are so loyal and fantastic companions. I want to get a female maltese for my DD in a few years :)
Lucky looks like a great Dog and the photo's are great, your grandma must be so happy to have him there. Thanks for sharing him with us :)

yeah, i love maltese's too. especially that they're easy to take care of. they don't need haircuts often, if you prefer them to have longer hair. and yes, they do have hair, therefore they don't shed, which is a plus..especially for those that are allergic to fur. my grandfather is more happy, since he plays with lucky all the time. oh, and i'm sorry the pictures are so BIG! i'm still getting used to putting pictures on posts.

Lucky looks like a beautiful dog Christine. I'm sure he still remembers you, I think he's just playing it cool. He is probably very happy were he is and doesn't want you to feel bad or guilty.

he so cute what wonderful pictures and i know he misses you but he is also happy making gran and grandpa happy, so remember all the goods times you and lucky had. and maybe someday the landlord will let you have a dog or you might find a place that will let you.
