Anyone got any lovely original idea's for something blue - other than wearing a blue garter for Erin's wedding? She doesn't want to wear blue jewelry.

I asked my sister to tie a tiny blue bow and to hand sew it to the inside of the hem of my wedding dress, for a personal special touch for example (tho I no longer have my wedding dress and forgot to save the little bow)

Erin has asked me to hand make a cream garter and to embroider tiny blue flowers all around the garter. I'm about to start doing that, but I thought someone might have a better 'special' idea.

I combined both my old & blue at my wedding. I carried my grandmothers wedding ring & had it tied on very very pale blue ribbon which I wore over my arm for the ceremony

When my sister got married she had a very pretty pale blue slid comb that went into her hair to hold the vale on with...she also wore pale blue undies!!!

That's a lovely idea. Tho as it happens, Erin has her Great Grandmothers wedding ring and is going to wear it on her right hand, as it fit's her ring finger exactly.

Erin is also wearing her G/Grandmothers necklace - given as a wedding present by her husband.

The necklace was passed down to my mother (wearing it at her debutant ball in 1938)

My Mother passed to down to me on my 18th birthday and I did the same for Erin's 18th.

I forgot he necklace actually has 2 (very pale) Aquamarines until I took it out to take a photo - the centre stone and the drop stone, so something blue is actually covered!

Erin will be the 4th generation to wear this necklace :)

I wasn't really into the traditional stuff, but as it turned out I did end up with old, new, borrowed and blue.

For blue, my engagement ring has a sapphire with two diamonds, also one of my friends at uni was a german axchange student so she had a blue handkerchief embroidered with a german phrase (I can't remember the direct translation, something to do with happiness, health and a good marriage) which I had with me on the day. That was really special because she went back to germany before our wedding but had this made for me before she went.

Thanks Naomi, it really is special! And so pretty!

I love the handkerchief idea you had, always lovely when you can have something extra special - as you said weather you are into traditional stuff or not :)

I went with the normal tradition & had a blue garter.

I think the necklace is absolutely stunning and the sentimental memories that are with it just makes it even better.

Thanks Girls :)

I went with the normal tradition & had a blue garter.

Think I'll still go ahead and embroider blue flowers etc around a cream garter. That shoudl look pretty
