I've bought Hugo some new tshirts for his 3rd birthday in a couple of weeks, in a size 3. His size 2s all fit him still, although he probably won't fit them by the end of summer. I think he's on the small side of normal (height) and pretty skinny.

Lucas can fit a size 3 but i got him some size 4 for summer (he is 3and a half). I think MOC's idea of the size up from their age is great.

I've brought all sizes 4 for summer, even though his size 3 still fit him. Bubs turned 3 in July.

okay... my kids are very little obviously :) My DS is nearly 6 and in size 4 - but he is short to be honest. My DD was in 2s and 3s when she was that age. But, from what I was always told, the average kids is the same age as size. So, I depends on whether or not you want average kids?

I'm really rubbish at getting kids clothes sizes right....when the youngest niece was 3yo I was buying her 6s and 7s, she's only just wearing them now a couple of years later. LMAO

LMAO Go Aunty Kay:hehe: I had a childless elderly aunt who always bought me 1 size above my age, problem was I was very tiny for my age so I couldn't wear them for about 3 years:hehe:

My 4 year old daughter turns 5 in April next year, and i recently brought her some new clothes in Size 6 from Best&Less, cause i always felt like the other clothes were just to short, and at least she might be able to get some wear out of them.

I guess one thing you soon learn as a parent is to always buy the *next size up* clothes*L*

I ahve more or less found that whatever age the kid is then that's what size clothes you should buy, plus up a size

it really depends on the child and where you are buying from i think.for instance i think you can buy one size from one store and then go buy the same size from another store and one will fit and the other wont.
I think its always best to go bigger if it is a present for someone else. Then they can always grow into it later

it really depends on the size of the kid. my DS is very tall for his age and when he was 4 years old, he was wearing size 4-5. but it also depends on the shop. i find that target is generally larger than normal so i usually buy it in one size smaller for DS and the right size for DD (she is 7 months and growing rapidly!), but i have found best and less to be smaller normal so i usually buy the next size up!!! if you are confused about what size to get, find out the childs height/ weight and have a look at what the tag says. they usually say "to fit ....cm hips, ...... kgs weight etc.

my oldest is 4 and he wears 5-6 and our 3yr wears 4-5 and our 1yr wears 2t so my kids are on the tall side

I can never tell Tina...I usually buy 3's or 4's but that is for both boys (Aiden is two and they fit him as well, just a little bigger)

I never seemed to buy ones or twos, just went straight from 0 to...but my kids have always been pretty small and 0's fit them for a couple of years :hehe:...

I have a 3 yo, Maggie, and she's wearing a 2 in shirts, but a three in pants (but she's really in that in-between stage). It's really funny, too, because my mother-in-law bought her a bunch of winter clothes last year assuming she'd still be a size small (Maggie, no MIL... :P). Anyway, I told MIL that Mags was wearing a 3 in pants and she insisted that since she bought her "good quality NAME BRAND stuff, that it would still fit. Good grief, but you've got to love her.

Anyway, another growth spurt like the last one and we'll be out buying new shirts finally.

I have a 5 and a 3 year old. I generally buy 1 size bigger than their age. Most of the time this works. I agree that Target clothes are bigger which is great. I also buy things from Big W and it is hit and miss occassionally. Like some others are saying, better to be slightly bigger. The baggy look is in, especially for boys!
