I take my daughter to the mother and baby session every fortnight to get out of the house and to relax and do something for myself. Over the past couple of months they have been showing movies like Nanny McPhee, Harry Potter, The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe and Zathura which dont get me wrong, are all good movies, but would not be my first choice of movie when I am going out to watch a movie by myself. I actually complained to the cinema saying that as an adult I wanted to watch movies more suited to adults not children as the only children at the cinema were babies and they really had no interest in watching the film.
Yesterday much to my delight they showed Freedomland with Samuel L Jackson and Julianne Moore which was a bit of a thriller with a racial issue sideline which I thought was fantastic and I really enjoyed watching a grown up movie for a change.
But as I was walking out I could hear the comments like "I didnt like that very much", "I didnt understand it" and "I think my brain is more used to watching cartoons".
It made me laugh as I seemed to be one of the few in the cinema who actually wanted to watch a good, intellectual film.
