Can I say I am soooo soooo happy we don't have it in Qld. I love getting up at quarter to five/five o'clock.
I do my housework and see the day arrive.. love it.
Maybe I'm strange..I cant be Robinson Crusoe though surely!!!:D :D :D

Mad Old Cow
25-10-2007, 10:13 PM
yes Cherie you are strange but, i hate DLS too

mummy1987
26-10-2007, 09:36 PM
i just realised that too but from next year we get an extra 4 weeks of daylight savings. as of next year we have to turn them bak 1st sunday in april instead of last week in march and turn them forward 1st sunday of october instead of last sunday so yeh we get an extra 4 weeks. it was on the net. i prefer it darker in the morning and lighter at night.

I'm sure we had the same discussion this time last year :hehe:

Queenslanders hate it, NSW & Vic love it. It's just going to be one of those inevitable things. :hehe:

But I really wish Ron Clarke would stop speaking for the entire SE Queensland region and saying that it wants daylight saving. I can understand the difficulty for those living in border town but no matter where you draw the DLS line it's going to be a "problem" for somebody isn't it? :dk:

Rachel
26-10-2007, 09:55 PM
yep, you are right Stormy plus I think it is a great place to celebrate NYE a few years ago we holidayed in tweed heads and had 2 countdowns!!

mummy1987
26-10-2007, 09:56 PM
yep i agree. everyone likes different things. people who work early in the morning would prefer no daylight savings so its lighter in the morning right? whereas others who sleep longer and go out at night or somethin would prefer DS so its darker in the morning and lighter at nite. everyone has there own preferences

Alexa
26-10-2007, 10:28 PM
Well I glad we have it and I am really glad that WA have it, otherwise they are 3 hours behind NSW and god it is painful to conduct business with people...

3 years Natasha, one down, two to go...:hehe:

Why a small country like Australia needs so many time zones is beyond me?

mummy1987
26-10-2007, 10:54 PM
i know. i dont know why australia just all have the same time since we r all in the same country. weird!

Denise
26-10-2007, 11:09 PM
I hate it, wish we never had it, can't wait for this stupid stupid 3 yr trial to be over so we never have to worry about it ever again.

mummy1987
26-10-2007, 11:15 PM
oh so after 3 years do u mean we will never have to change our clocks again?

Alexa
26-10-2007, 11:16 PM
What happens if you have a referendum and it gets passed?

Denise
26-10-2007, 11:36 PM
What happens if you have a referendum and it gets passed?

Oh I hope not.

They were rabbiting on last year how it wasn't as popular as what they thought it would be.

Last year I hadn't spoken to any one person who liked it and all those people said the same thing.

I really hope it doesn't get passed.

oh so after 3 years do u mean we will never have to change our clocks again?

Only in W.A.

We are having a three year trial and then having a referendum to decide .

ezmay
26-10-2007, 11:59 PM
I don't like it :brow:
Rachel & Ezmay, how come your Chrissy ticker say's different numbers?

Rachel
27-10-2007, 12:18 AM
What happens if you have a referendum and it gets passed?

LMAO I hope it does!! I love DLS and I know plenty of people in WA who love it too.. but there are also many like Denise says that don't like it... I know I will be keeping my :fx:

The one thing i hate about living in QLD is no DLS. I love it and QLd has the perfect weather for evening outdoor activities yet its dark at 6pm!

Supa
27-10-2007, 09:13 AM
Rachel we love it too. So many ppl get pissed by it over here but we love it, hubby grew up with it in NSW so doesnt faze him & I love it swimming in the pool until late at night enjoying the outdoors later, granted its still light when kids go to bed but they know its bedtime so go to bed no ifs or buts, thats on school nights. Over the holidays I let them stay up later & they are outside till dark!
I love it for conducting business also as all my suppliers are east coast

mel35
27-10-2007, 09:15 AM
I love having those extra hours of daylight in the evenings to do things when it cools down a bit, like dinner picnics at the beach and bbq's, walking along the lake etc

Teeka
27-10-2007, 09:42 AM
I HATE it and also the fact that the government has forced it on us considering we have already had several referendums and the answer was always no.
I cant wait for the trial to finish. If they are going to have it I dont understand why they dont make it a permanant year round change.

Supa
27-10-2007, 10:02 AM
Cassie the good thing about the government forcing it upon us is that those of us who voted YES in the referendums get what we want for a change & many ppl I know who voted NO before will be voting YES in the future

Rachel
27-10-2007, 12:52 PM
Why don't you like it (DLS) Cassie?

Mieca
27-10-2007, 01:49 PM
you ladies are soo lucky. We in Qld dont have daylight savings....... its about time Qld kept up with the rest of the states.....

mummy1987
27-10-2007, 07:14 PM
oh right so its wa. so what do u mean by if u have a referendum and it gets passed? does that mean if it gets passed u will always have DLS so it will always be light at night or does passed mean it wont be DLS so it will always be darker at nite? sorry im not with all this stuff so not sure what happens lol!

manda- so qld doesnt have DLS? so does that mean qld never has to change their clocks?

Rachel
27-10-2007, 07:50 PM
Tiff we have already had a couple of referendums in the past and it was voted that we would not have DLS. Then last year it was decided that we would have a 3 year trial so that basically the WA people could have a decent length trial of DLS in which to base their opinions.. I know a number of people who were anti DLS who now like it, I have always thought it was a positive thing as we had it when I lived in NSW and SA but there are still quite a few people who don't like it so we will just have to wait and see if it gets passed after the 3 years trial and then it will be permanent...

mummy1987
27-10-2007, 07:58 PM
oh right so do u still change your clocks bak and forth or is your time set on DLS for the hole 3 years?

Rachel
27-10-2007, 08:07 PM
It is only during Summer for 3 years, up until last year we didn't have it at all :)

mummy1987
27-10-2007, 08:15 PM
oh right so up til last year u never had to change your clocks bak and forth? i would like that but then again i like it when its light later too.

Rachel
27-10-2007, 08:29 PM
yep, thats right Tiff :)

mummy1987
27-10-2007, 08:33 PM
oh right thanks for all the info lol i have never talked to people in other states at DLS time before lol. good to know.

Manda
27-10-2007, 08:42 PM
Yes Tiff Here in QLD we never have to change our clocks.

Wish they would force a trial on us then do a refferendum!

mummy1987
27-10-2007, 08:46 PM
oh right manda. so u never have DLS which means its always dark early at night there is that right? how weird i think all of aus should have the same time!

Manda
27-10-2007, 08:54 PM

Rachel
29-10-2007, 03:50 AM
I forgot about it and was flicking through foxtel wondering why the times for certain shows were saying they went from 1.30-3am for a half hour show.. then the penny dropped :hehe:

sandydee
29-10-2007, 08:13 AM
:yes:thats the frustrating bit I rushed around getting stuff done to watch something on Austar at 8-30 to find it was over because of DLS:uhno:I was annoyed:hehe:

Stormy
31-10-2007, 05:55 PM
i know. i dont know why australia just all have the same time since we r all in the same country. weird!

Please tell me you are kidding :O If it was 5pm in WA at the same time as eastern Qld, then they would be very very peeved
because the sun wouldn't go down till nearly 11pm  Being in the same country has nothing to do with it.

Manda if you love your DLS so much you could always go live in the Tweed, you'd have the best of both worlds then :P In the height of summer, it doesn't get dark until 7pm and you know I'm begging for the sun to go down because when it goes down the heat disappears from the day. Having DLS up here for me would just prolong the heat. :brow:

I don't understand people who love DLS sooooo much and then move up here knowing we do not have DLS and then wanting to get it brought in up here. I'm happy as things are....if anything, I would appreciate DLS in winter because at least then there would be some light at the end of the day after I finish work. :dk:

Mad Old Cow
31-10-2007, 07:48 PM
Kay it's like that in Germany to in DLS just dark at 11pm, mind you we thought it was fantastic as we were there on holidays & got to do & see so much more

Stormy
31-10-2007, 07:54 PM
True I loved it for the same reason in the southern part of New Zealand because it didn't get dark until 10pm down there. But I was there as a tourist, not as a resident. Big difference if you ask me. :)

I have a suggestion for folks in Qld who love their DLS. Get up an hour earlier. Do everything an hour earlier. If you work, ask your boss if you can start an hour earlier. You get the same effect of DLS without everyone else having to do it along with you. Because that is honestly all it is about IMO :P

Mad Old Cow
31-10-2007, 07:58 PM
oh! you are a cheeky little kid tonight missy
