I am x( i feel very let down & kept in the dark by her teacher.
Don't get me wrong, her teacher is good but just sugar coats things when you confront her on issues to do with Kimberlee.
When my hubby got kimberlee into see a different Paediatrician i went to see her teacher to let her know
& just to give her a run down on what we are doing. (you guys all know she soils herself everyday mainly more than 2 times a day - her teachers also know this) i said to her that we are taking kimberlee to a new doctor as we want her tested for everything as there seems to be a problem somewhere (i really don't think it's behaviour & my mum always say's to me Trust your instincts mothers instincts are always right)
AS soon as i mentioned she's going to get tested for Aspergers Syndrome she jumped right in (i didn't even finish my sentence.
"Oh i don't think it's anything like that, i've worked with kids with disabilities like that & ADHD & ADD
& it's not her, it's just a concentration thing with Kimberlee"
I just asked her if she could evaluate Kimberlee over a week period & write a letter to her new doctor so that way he has a heads up on the situation at school....(cut out alot of time as well)
WEll i got the letter today & OMG it brought me to tears i haven't stoped crying yet.....
Here is the letter j have blocked out names & school

so in the letter the teacher points alot of issues that we have always said are not normal so i'm pretty peeved & i don't know why it's taken her so long to point these issues out to us....
Well i will soon see what the doctor say's on Thursday
thanks for listening to me rave on

Yes....I would agree with her that it doesn't sound like Kimberlee has any autistic tendencies...but it would be interesting to hear what the Paediatrician thinks.
You are very lucky that although these issues hadn't been pointed out to you previously, at the very least the Teacher has taken the time and effort to actually write the letter.
Try not to get upset...now you know what her Teacher is like, you won't be caught out again.

Heather: it's just not what's written in the letter. that's just school.
She doesn't go to sleep to around 11pm then she's up & down all night, She soils herself, she zones out
there's alot of things that go with that letter that's why it's a bit of a worry

It is probably best that the teacher gives an honest opinion as you are hoping to get to the bottom of whatever is going on. However, if I saw that written in print about my child I would be devastated and I would also cry, I so understand why you feel that way. I really do hope this is the start of finding a solution.
Mel, I am going to move this to SG, given that the letter you've scanned has your daughter's name, the school's name and the teacher's name ... if you'd prefer to leave it in the public section, let me know, but you might want to blank out some of the identifying information in the letter.

Mel i can understand that your upset about reading that, and moreso at the fact that she hadnt pointed these out to you before.
Good luck with the pead.
Have you tried any alternative methods to get her to calm down at night and to promote concentration? There are some essential oils that are commonly used for those purposes maybe they are worth a try?
Here are a couple of sites that might be of interest:
http://www.healinghippo.com
http://www.roonka.com.au/facts/essensub.htm
http://www.essentialhealth.com.au/factsheets_haven.htm
Theres just a couple incase your interested in looking into it. Like i said might be worth a try, Im not saying it will be magical cure but it might help.
Goodluck.

so sorry on what you're going through mel! i would be a bit upset at the teacher also for not telling me these things and then all of a sudden will write it in a letter when i demand one..you should ask her why she hasn't said anything to you earlier..how can you better your child when there's no communication between the teacher and the parent? i hope all goes well at the doctor's. :)

Mel, my heart goes out to you. The teacher should have spoken to you about all the concerns she has about your daughter, then may be you may have seeked professional help sooner and she wouldn't have to be still having so many problems with school. I know that when kids have a behavioural problem it isn't easy, I hope you can get to the bottom of it soon, take care.

UPDATE:
My Daughters new doctor sent her teacher a letter & wanted her to ring him & organise the councilor to do the testing.
I figure it's been at least 9 days since she received the letter (as the doctor is in our local area so mail doesn't take that long) The teacher still hasn't rang the doctor. I hadn't heard from her or the councilor so i thought i would take matters into my own hands & get the ball rolling.
I rang the councilor & asked if the teacher had spoken to her & the answer was no ( i knew that anyway)
so i told her what was happening & the her teacher hadn't rang the doctor yet etc etc etc.
She said "leave it with me" that afternoon when i picked my daughter up there was all the forms to fill out for the assessment :berry: my daughter told me that when they got back from reading the councilor was talking to her teacher & her teacher didn't look to happy.
Obviously she was shity because i went over her head.
But i don't care, my daughter is getting tested sooner because i had to ring up & chase it up, the teacher should have done it straight away. When i spoke to her teacher yesterday she was filling her forms in tonight, so hopefully this time next week i will have some great news on my daughter. By Great News i mean a confirmation that she does have Aspergers like her new doctor has diagnosed her with.
He said that's what she has but after 5 1/2 years of not knowing i'm very hesitant to accept this diagnoses until i see it in writing , i don't want to accept it too quickly as i'm scared they will turn around & say no she doesn't have it, & then we are just back to square 1 trying to find out what's going on.......
Cheers
