WE took our daughter to her new doctor & he was wonderful. As soon as we walked in his office we knew that this doctor was going to be the right one for our 7 year old daughter.
He asked Questions that no other doctor or specialist have asked, he listened to our concerns, which no other doctor has done previously. He spoke to our daughter like she was grown up not like a baby, which she liked......
He read the evaluation from her teacher, Gave her a check over.
He sent her for a whole heap of Blood Tests (the results will be in on Friday)
He turned around & said
"i can diagnose her today with Asperger's Syndrome but i would like to get the school councillor to do the evaluation for Asperger's so you as parents can have a definite result in writing as you have been waiting a very long time - years for a result to her behaviour. I believe with all certainty that she has some traits of Asperger's & that's why she has problems in a lot of area's compared to peers her age. Rest assured we will get her the help she needs & the support you guys need to make life a lot easier to deal with"
OMG we love this doctor.......
My hubby & i have had a great weight lifted off our shoulders.....
For 5 years we have been asking for help with our daughter, for 5 years we have told the doctors (lost count on how many doctors she's been to) that it's not behaviour there is something wrong.
As a parent you really do know your child
One thing i have learnt through this whole experience is ALWAYS trust your parental instincts.
Previously her teacher had told me that she's worked with kids with Autism & Asperger's & she said that my daughter doesn't have that it's only her concentration.
then on Friday when i went to see her teacher to tell her how i went with the doctor i spoke to my friend first & she told me that the teacher told her at the begining of the year that she hasn't had any experience with Autism or aspergers & she went & done a day course on teaching autistic children (my friends daughter has aspergers as well just worse) the problem is autstic children are totally different to children with aspergers so they need to be taught diffenet.
Lucky there's not that long left of this school year.'Next year i want to get her into a class with a male teacher that teachers an autistic child at the moment & her new doctor turned around & told my hubby that he will personally make sure that our daughter get's the right teacher & the right help even if he needs to be at that school everyday kicking butt.....
:nana::nana::nana::nana:
as you can tell we are very relieved & happy.......
just thought i would give you guys an update.....
:hug::hug::hug::x:x:x
to everyone on this site as you guys have been very supportive & understanding & i thank you from the bottom of my heart...
