Are you a member of your local library?

I didn't realise how dependant I had become on mine until they recently closed it down to give it a complete overhaul. Now I have to drive 45 minutes to town to use the one there.

There are lots of things to borrow from the library other than books these days, ours has a large range of videos. dvds, magazines, large print books and talking books.

What does yours have to offer?

Gosford is a bit ordinary as far a library goes but the new one at Erina is not bad...they have a great range of DVD's lots of old stuff to...they are also open on Sundays which is very handy...I mainly borrow there American mags...

I must admit I don't really go to the library much anymore- probably been nearly 2 years. My mum is my library these days, she reads heaps and knows what I like and she is always at the book exchange. She is always bringing me a bundle of books up when she visits Thanks Mum:hug:

Since I discovered the internet and google I haven't needed to use the library for researching and we never hire out videos or dvds, when the girls were younger I took them to story telling at the library a few times.

Yep we have a great library especially since we are in a fairly small town. :D Dvds, videos, magazines,Cds,kids puzzles, books of course. The ladies that work there are all very friendly and helpful. They have activities for the kids on the holidays, storytelling and craft for the kids during the week a special kids section where they can sit and read or play with the toys that are there. Internet access, lamenating, photocopying. They really have everything these days. I remember as a kid going there at night to do homework etc they don't open at night anymore but I think it would be great if they did even if it was only one night a week like late night shopping.:D

I'm a member & my boys borrow books under my card.

Even though our library is quite small, it seems to have everything from magazines to dvd's. There is a section at the back for family history which is great, they have another section with about 8 computers for the internet.

There is a stack of books with tapes for the kids & they also run group sessions.

Most of the time though, we are in & out within 10 minutes.

I love our library. I used to go there all the time when I was single (nothng else to do!), but now I take the girls and they love it. There's a great selection of kid's books, adults books on every subject, videos, DVDs, toys for the kids to play with, and during the school term they have pre-school storytime where the Librarian reads the kids a story and then they do an activity relevant to the story.

I would be miserable without my library!

Yep. We have a branch library in our suburb but I usually go to the main library, I've pretty much read everything I want to at the branch library (it's very small). But it's only a 10 minute drive to the main library so it's not to bad. Reminds me, I have books due back!

I have periods where I'm going to our local library every week, and then don't go for months. I generally just go to borrow books, although they have other services there I think. They never have the books or authors I want, so I usually just pick at random from the shelves. I'll read just about anything :)

I used them for a while for books for my daughter but it got too much of an effort to keep taking them back or renewing them so we havent been for a while.
