Hey Ladies,
This is a rather trivial post but I'm having serious gift buying issues for my 'boyfriend' (omg so weird saying that word.. lol). I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT TO GET HIM FOR XMAS.
I know, I know, buying gifts for someone is a personal thing but seriously girls, at this point in time any suggestions will help me figure out what to get. The worst part is because we've only been going out for a month I still don't know a great deal about his likes/dislikes. Plus, he tells me stuff and I tell myself to remember but my memory is so bad that 5mins later it's been forgotten...:head:
Things I do know about him include:- He rides a motorcycle, he works long hours so doesn't have any hobbies or play sport, he doesn't wear jewellery, he has a great sense of humour (could come in VERY handy.. lol), he watches a lot of movies, likes country music and live concerts... he doesn't read (far out!!), he loves chocolate and I'm sure there's lots more I just can't think of them right now...
What the heck am I supposed to get this guy.... LMAO

I'm glad things are going well with your new boyfriend :D
Some ideas are- Nice Leather motorcycle gloves, DVD's, CD's, A night away with you! A watch.. I got my dad a voucher to drive a V8 supercar around a course, he loved that and my BIL also has a voucher to do it! My dad is 51 and BIL is 23 so it is a cool gift for any age if there is one near you. There is some info on it here (http://www.hot-laps.com.au/)

What about a subscription to a magazine, I know he said he doesn't read but he might like a magazine that comes once a month about motor bikes or cars...they seem to have more photos than articles...normally about$55 to $60 for a years worth? Just an idea :)

Just some suggestions, hell i'm having trouble thinking on what to get my 11 year old son, but i can think of something for a man i've never met:hehe::hehe:

i think a wallet is good or a leather belt or an electric toothbrush for your house lol

Umm Di, it's Mandi who has the new boyfriend :P
Well if he likes chocolate and likes you, then why not some chocolate body paint? ;) Or a couple of pairs of boxers if he wears them. If he likes country music and live concerts, what about a DVD of a Garth Brookes concert?? Or a Garth Brookes CD?? Only saying Garth Brookes because he's the only country singer I know off the top of my head  You get the idea anyway.
There's a couple of relatively inexpensive ideas for you that are suitable for early stage relationships where you're still getting to know each other's likes/dislikes. :)

I think you're dating my hubby!.... but, then, hubby's even fussier than that. The only thing he likes is fishing and I always buy the wrong stuff :hehe: I did get him a magazine subscription when he was into motocross and he loved it. Stormy's ideas sound good :)

Yeah it's Mandi not Deb (Deb's man is perfect and doesn't need replacing lol) Deb did suggest I buy a really good keyring and put my house key on it ;) but I saw his keys the other day and he's got soooo many already LMAO
Well if he likes chocolate and likes you, then why not some chocolate body paint? ;)
We've already done that :P

He's into Dunn & Brooks and he's got all their CD's/DVD's and concert tickets for next year already....
Now you know why it's so bloody hard! Bugger......LMAO

I thought you did the cooking Cherie?? What on earth does he want with a casserole dish?? Is he trying to suggest you should cook more casseroles? LMAO

he sounds almost exactly like my DF! i definitely agree with rach with the gloves for riding his motorcycle. every year i buy my mom's fiancee a couple harley davidson t shirts and he loves them! my mom's fiancee also has a leather cell phone case which is especially designed for riding. it's really nice! doesn't seem that expensive, so that would be a nice gift. umm..how about just dinner or a night out just the two of you? maybe buy his favorite movie if he doesn't have it already..i love doing that..always makes a great gift!

He is a bit more of a Gormet than I am ..I do have casserole dishes but just not the one he would like, I have my eye on a large Maxwell and Williams one.LMAO
Mandi.. how's things going , you decided yet?:hehe:

Heather, great sites there I've found a lot of things I'd like for me! lol :P
Ezmay, he's not into belt buckles etc :(
Leelee, me - lingerie - not a good combo LMAO
Stormy, what's Fellas??
Kiki, more great ideas :D
He mentioned the other day he needs earphones for his mp3 player that fit under his helmet properly and don't dig into his head so I might investigate that as well.
Gee you girls are great at coming up with present ideas, thanks :D

Oh you don't have a Fellas (http://www.fellas.com.au/) out in Ipswich??? I thought they had one at that new Riverlink complex or maybe at Orion. It's a gift store for men basically....everything in there is bloke-ified. I just checked the store locations on their website and it says they are at Garden City, Chermside and the Hyperdome but I was sure I saw one at Indooroopilly too. It's a bit of a drive for you but if you are desperate you might see something he might like in there :)

i don't think i'd be able to hold off that long! LMAO actually, it is a good idea though! LMAO i had to call DF and tell him how "horrible" you ladies are! :hehe: he thought it was rather funny..but you do have a point..in the beginning the couple is always ontop of one another..after awhile you finally know how to breathe again and not be so smothered! LMAO
P.S. i found that the only time he really wants to give me affection is through there..AND i know when it's coming because he'll be VERY VERY VERY nice! LMAO watch out coolbabe! :hehe:

Umm Di... you're gonna keep calling me Deb now aren't ya? :P :P :P :P
And yeah, we're definately still at it LMAO (too much info?? :P)
Kiki we've already figured out how to breathe lol as you'd know, when there's kids around you don't get very much 'alone' time so we've had the opportunity to actually relate to each other which is awesome (makes the times we are 'alone' more enjoyable and precious).

13-11-2007, 02:34 PM
