i was talking to my dad over the weekend and i learned that my brother, sister, and i were named after someone..i never knew that! LOL.
my brother was named after my dad's dad, who died when my dad was very young. my brother's middle name comes from the first croatian king. so my brother's name is steven thomas-in reality and on his birth certificate it's stjepan tomislav.
my sister was named after my great grandmother (my grandmother in croatia's mother). her name was kathy. not sure where her middle name came from. so her name is kathy ana..and on her birth certificate it's katica ana.
i got my name from my aunt, which was my uncle's (my mom's brother) first wife. i haven't talked to her in years, due to their divorce and whatnot. i heard that my mom just loved my name and it was pretty popular at the time, so that's why she named me christina. hence why the spelling is with a CH not a K. (K is the croatian way of spelling it.) my middle name is my godparent's from my christening name..her name was maria..so that's my middle name.
is anyone here named after someone?!

My parents got my name Rachel from a song and my middle name Maree is the same as my mum's middle name.. I chose Ada-Maree as my DD's middle name as my grandmothers middle name is Ada.. So she got 3 generations of middle names in one!

My name is so old fashioned. I always joke that I was named after one of Dads girlfriends, maybe I was, but whatever the reason, I am sure they were on drugs at the time....LMAO LMAO

My father chose my name, not sure why though. When I was little he used to always sing me that song "Tell Laura I love her" Maybe he got it from that song? Mum said he always loved the name Laura. I do too!;)

Cherie I think it might have been somewhat popular in the generation before yours....I know a few of them who are about 15yrs older than you and they are all ex nurses now. :hehe:
I know what my name means according to a few different sources but god knows where my mum plucked it from. No one in my family tree shares my name....the closest is my cousin's youngest who is Kayla but of course she was born way after me. :)
According to one website, my name is an English derivative of Katherine. Katherine according to this database could be derived from the Greek word for torture (LMAO) or the goddess Hecate who was connected to witchery, demons and the underworld, whereas the Romans associated the name with "purity". :hehe:

I was named after two Aunties....Patricia and Mary and one was even Patricia-Mary too..I really cannot imagine naming a child the same name as my brother or sister..just too weird to me...other more distant relations I can understand but the same as a brother or sister just amazes me....:O

Oh and meant to add....back in the olden days when my brother and I were born the father was often sent to the office to register the child's name...in BOTH cases he spelled both my brother and my names WRONGLY! I can understand someone making a mistake once ...especially the first time but you would think after that the next time you would be extra careful...not my father though! LMAO

I wasn't named after anyone.
My father chose my name from the in vogue names of the late 1960's. I would rather something more exotic but can't be bothered changing it now! :D
