View Full Version : I wonder

...if poor Mrs Howard is walking around in circles this morning muttering,"I really need to get some cardboard boxes and start this bloody packing!"
Seriously though even though the moving company will come in and blitz their way through Kirribilli House, it must be hard for them to up and move after such a long time....so many memories.

I wonder if Howard even thought about that in the whole run up to the election - that he might have to move house. In the end, he's really only renting and now the lease is up. Although I'm no little Johnny fan, I do feel a little sorry for her.

Disappointing outcome. Sad to have to relocate but that's life.
I am so surprised that this listing is still up (& not marked "newly leased")....

I just hope that Rudd doesn't stuff up the superannuation laws. After all, he's not exactly short of a quid nor is he ever likely to have to be concerned about his retirement needs. Therese won't be cutting coupons and getting the bus like me in 25 years!

Hubby and I were also talking about all the people that no longer have a job. Of course there will be lots of new jobs too.
I'm sure Mrs Howard will have someone to help with that job:hehe:

Why are we feeling sorry for them....they have a house to go to,with no mortgage, even if they never lift a finger again, they have a very, very healthy steady income for the rest of their lives, first class travel for the rest of their lives, and staff (altho' modified)....and all paid for by your taxes Ladies.
What we should be feeling for them is pity that they lost their sense of the real world years ago when they lived in such a rarefied atmosphere and because of the above benefits will never again have to be a part of it.
And no.....I am not and never will be a radical Labour supporter.

But at least he has been in politics for 33 years, some have been in for 5 minutes and still get all those benefits, I just think it is sad that he has lost his seat as well.
I don't think Labour will do half the things they have promised.

Sorry Alexa but thank god Jonny has been kicked out of not just the top job but his own seat. He should of been thinking about the people of this counrty before he brought in the AWA's. That's why he lost this election.................good riddance.
Well I'm glad I got that off my chest.........sorry ladies, I'm usually not that political.

I like the message that you delivered Heather Ann.
Happyjacq and I never touch on politics do we Happy? We generally lean towards more vacuous stuff. :D (Not insulting your intelligence at all Happy.)

I think, No Matter who you vote for, to have a good democracy you need to have a change of government occassionally.
I think a lot of people are worrying needlessly..We will have to wait and see.
It is obvious from the way things have turned out, people were tired of the government and think a change was in order.

Often it's not so much a case of voting the new guy in as voting the old guy out ... and the fact that Howard will probably lose his seat is a pretty good indication of that.
I don't have sympathy for Howard (actually still shaking my head at why the PM would even be living at Kirribilli House??!) losing his home or his seat. That's politics.
Oh and I know it doesn't matter in the bigger scheme of things, but it's spelt Labor, not Labour.

That's what I think too Cherie....I don't favour either party strongly but I do think it was time for a change to keep things from going stagnant.

To be honest yes I do feel sorry for MRS Howard...she is a very lovely lady (yes I have met her) and has had a terrible time with her health. Personally I couldn't think of anything worse than being the partner of somebody in public office.

The election results certainly surprised me. I fully expected the Liberals to return to power with a reduced majority, though it seems that the Liberals majority has now been reduced to a minority. There have been elections like this in the past, but when the same party is returned to power by several previous elections, one starts to take for granted. From what I see in politics, there is absolutely nothing that can be ever taken for ganted.

Exactly....why jump the gun and dump on the man or his party.....let's wait and see

Hit the nail on the head there.
