I did send my 26 yr old son to do the Christmas food shopping !!! Its a 175km trip and my car broke down yesterday so I sent him!! I have no idea what to do if he forgets anything or gets the wrong stuff!!! His car is one that is falling apart so I wont use it except for around here. You all might find me posting a thread tomorrow asking for ideas for Christmas dinner LMAO I hope I brought him up right! I am crossing my fingers but he might surprise me and do it perfectly :winner: Lets see :jump:

You are a brave woman! I can't think of a single adult male I'd trust to do my grocery shopping :) Hubby has a knack for spending the exact same money for a weekily shop on food just for him... Scary to think what would happen if I let him loose on the xmas list!

Mine is 37 and would spend double of what I had allowed, and most of it I wouldn't be able to use....Unless everyone likes a christmas dinner consisting of lollies, and car products, and stuff for the bbq...lol

Well my husband is 60 year old farmer and I know exactly what we would be having if he was sent out to shop, for a starter he wouldn't go near the shops it would be out of the freezer paua, venison or mutton and home dug spuds, as. for my son he is 30, guess it would be subway all round

my DF does all the shopping. if we think it's going to be a BIG shop, then i go with him and we both pick stuff out, but he likes going when he needs to get away from the house to think and stuff. surprisingly enough i don't mind at all! :) but i do love to go with him. :D
sorry he didn't get everything..i'd think that by now he'd know what you usually buy and wouldn't have a problem! sorry!

I wish I could go with him but I dont have a sitter, people around here are too scared to watch my twins as there are 2 sets of them. The car my son drives is only a 5 seater so we dont all fit in. After going through the list with him again (quite sternly) and how he felt when he saw my face at his first attempt, I think he will do a better job. He is still feeling bad for being the one that was driving the landcruiser when it broke down lol. It wasnt his fault but he feels terrible and is trying to redeem himself.
Will update you all when he gets back tomorrow.

Lindy you are an amazing women - 2 sets of twins so close together! What fun you'll have this Christmas with the kids that age.
I hope your son does a better job this time around.
I love sending my hubby shopping. He usually gets everything on the list plus something exciting to try - that I would never had thought of - or just a treat for me and the kids!

my DS is 28 & does a better grocery shop then his partner but he does the cooking so that may be why
My DH told me about 30 years ago that i waste too much money shopping so i handed the job ove rot him & he still does it most of the time which is a shame because i love grocery shopping

i don't feel like it's painful..yeah, it can be a bit stressed out or things happen and they're not planned, but once xmas morning comes, everything fades away and everyone is grateful and happy-so i guess all the other stuff is worth it in the end. :)

Hey Kerry,
I got 2 sets of twins, 2 older kids and 2 grandchildren to look after at Christmas time. There are the kids partners too. We live miles from any decent shops and my car as well as my daughters car have broken down a few days ago. We nearly got flooded out and the house is partially wet inside from the storms. Our half acre is desperate for a mow and there is another storm coming. We are looking forward to Christmas no matter what. I am looking forward to Boxing day too because that means I can relax but I dont hate Christmas even though this time it has been exceptionally stressful. We are using our computer to play Christmas music because the stereo has busted but we are still smiling. One of our cats has been attacked as is recovering in a special spot in my room and the dog has taken the top off her nose (we have our own Rudolph!) but with the smells coming from our kitchen they too are getting excited. Kerry look to the positive side of life and please enjoy Christmas. We send you best wishes and happiness for tomorrow!
And I forgot to mention ---I sent him off again to get what I forgot to put on the list!!!! LOL
