Hubby and I went to the movies today and saw Kinky Shoes...which was a good movie. I saw a couple of promising movies advertised before it started, so here are a couple to keep in mind.

Disney's 8 Below (http://disney.go.com/disneypictures/8below/)

and another is.....

Failure to Launch (http://www.failuretolaunchmovie.com/)

Just click on the movie name to go to the relative web pages :)

Does anyone else hate the ad for that movie about the babysitter and the creepy phone calls (sorry can't think of the name, but it's being advertised a lot atm on tv). I don't know if it's just me but it makes me feel slightly ill just seeing the ad. I used to love creepy movies. I guess I'm just o-l-d now!

When a Stranger Calls. It's a remake of an old movie - which was scarey as hell. But I was only really young when I saw it with my Mum.

What is it about movie makers and all these remakes? Can't they think of things for themselves anymore?

What is Kinky Shoes about? some kind of foot fetish? :Hehe: I don't mind when they remake old movies, sometimes it can be done quite well and gives a fresh spin on the story.

Kinky Shoes is about a shoe store that is on the verge of closing down. They then get a contract to make girls shoes in mens sizes (for drag queens). It's supposed to be based on a true story.

I think it will be pretty funny.

Saw MatchPoint the other night...good movie...Jonathan Rhys Myers is divine...very english...it is a Woody Allen movie, but he is not in it...

Proof is coming soon too, a bit like a Beautiful Mind, with Anthony Hopkins.

I saw Failure to Launch with Sarah Jessica Parker and it was pretty good as far as Romantic Comedies go. I would recommend it as a nice easy to watch film.

Hi Barbara - I don't go to the movies so that's why I don't know who that young spunk was. My daughter told me to tell you that I watched Pirates of the Carribean" and didn't like it. She still gives me heaps over that.

Well I am off to see V for Vendetta at the mum and bub's movie session next week. They only show one movie a fortnight so we dont get to choose. I havent heard much about it apart from the fact Natalie Portman actually shaved her head in the film.

I went and saw Walk The Line a few weeks back and I was a bit dissappointed in it. Some parts were ok and I think they did so well with their singing but it was a bit boring in parts.

I've seen a couple of movies for the first time in months. Firewall with Harrison Ford which was actually OK. I give it 7/10

Lord of War: about gun-running starring Nicolas Cage. That was an interesting movie, I give it about 8/10.

Pirates of the Caribbean; Dead Man's Chest is coming out soon, can't wait for that one as well as:

Ice Age: The Meltdown

Inside Man is very good with Denzel Washington and Clive Owen...it is fast and pacey and with a good storyline, also has Jodie Foster in, and it is not your typical bank robbery...

V for Vendetta reminds me of 1984, Hugo Weaving is the guy, behind the mask, Guy Faulks Mask they are calling it...it looks like a great movie.

Hi Alexa - V for Vendetta was a really great movie. It is based on a comic book which my brother just raves about but the story itself translated well to a really interesting movie. I really enjoyed it. And I didnt know it was Hugo until the credits - which was great - it made it even more interesting to watch as I didnt know the man behind the mask.

Saw it last night, thought it was excellent...great storyline...Natalie Portman was not bad and really she is so not my cup of tea, but she good in that role.

I've seen Inside Man and I loved it. Denzel Washington is always good but I wish Jodie Foster had a bigger role. I liked the ending.

I also saw V for Vendetta this morning. It was really good. I never knew it was Hugo under that mask.

Cannot wait to see Dead Man's Chest and Ice Age 2. :y: :y: :y:

I enjoyed Failure to Launch too. I really enjoyed MI but then the second one had a terrible story line so not sure how this one will go. I have gone off Tom a bit though admittedly so I wont be rushing out to see it.

I agree Ice Age 1 was way better, most sequels arent as good. Except for Shrek2. That is so funny.
I am axiously waiting for Pirate2 to come out also.

Hard Candy looks intriguing.

Marilyn Hubby is keen to see that one so I am glad you liked it..probably means that I will enjoy it too. Anything about motorbikes is hugely popular in this house. The name of the movie is a bit deceptive..wouldnt make you think it was about motorbikes at all LOL:)

Well we are off to see Take The Lead starring Antonio Banderas on Tuesday for our mother and baby session movie. The film is based on a true story about a dance teacher in a school in Manhattan.

I saw Ice Age 2 and thought the first one was better. I agree that the ending left it open to a third.
I want to see "Friends with Money", the new Jennifer Aniston movie but it is only in limited release and not being shown where I live (in NC).

Well we are off to see American Dreamz this week for the mother and baby movie session. The movie is starring Hugh Grant and it is obviously loosely based on the American Idol phenomenon. I will let you know what it is like once I have seen it.

michelle_72
03-05-2006, 09:09 AM
Well I wouldnt rate American Dreamz at all - thin plot line which wasnt even remotely funny and the terrorist plot line was just pointless. My recommendation is to avoid this one! I usually like Hugh Grant but he really was wasted in this movie.
