Okay! I could understand the programs on TV on Friday night being shifted because of the Pope's funeral but to have it on 3 different channel i think was a bit over head especially being the same broadcast.Thinking that the TV would be back to normal for Saturday was really a joke by what was in TV times the wedding was surpose to be on after one movie on one of the channels but to have 3 channels again having the same broadcast for the wedding was terrible Why do we have to sit and watch a wedding because there is nothing on.

Please don't suggest to get pay TV we all cannot afford it.The same thing happened with Americans voting last year it was on channel seven all day.Why do we have to have shows being played from overseas for so long on all channels.I like sitting down Friday,Saturday night and watching TV late because I don't have to get up early next day so why do we have to have such shows on.

Because it's a 'world/major'event,and the tv stations want to get the best ratings.
It's also a 'push' to get people to get pay tv if you don't already have it. Personally,i have no idea what i would do without Foxtel!! I can watch what i like when i like, and not what someone else is trying to force me to watch.
But yeah,to answer your question, mainly just a ratings thing to see who can 'do it' better, who got most watchers etc
Other then that, just have to turn the tv off or watch a video/dvd.
Or jump online!!*LOL*

I don't watch 'special event' things either - I just don't have the attention span for it. On Friday we ended up turning the television off. We don't have pay TV either - Simon keeps talking about it, but TBH I don't want any more excuses to waste time watching television.

I watched a bit of the BBC broadcast of the Pope's funeral but none of the wedding (apart from anything, I was in bed with bronchitis :( ).

I found it rather tedious and don't normally watch these types of 'special' programs. What bugged me the most was that I didn't think the choir was particularly good (maybe it's my biased against male choirs) and the service was just ssssssssoooooooooo sssssssllllllllooooooowwwwww.

I've got to agree, I don't like it when they put these specials on every channel either. So friday night hubby and I went to watch our U/18 Soccer team play their first game(they lost 7-0). Saturday night I was glued to ABC (something i don't do very often) I watched The Bill for the first time in years, one of my fave episodes of Mr Bean and a music special which I enjoyed thoroughly- I'll have to watch ABC more often!

I agree, every channel is a bit much. I had a watch of the Pope's funeral, only a bit tho as it was going on and on. I also watched the wedding but not for long either, once again it went on and on.

I did not bother watching the 'Pope's funeral' or the 'Royal wedding' just not my cup of tea... I made sure I was busy with other things including my cross stitch (nearly done!!) and catching up on some movies I have been meaning to watch. When these 'special' programs are on it encourages me to to do other things that I have been meaning to do!! :)
