becca had a girl scout meeting tonight. this is her second year in girl scouts and she loves it. :)
right when she walked in the door she told me that at her next meeting, she needs to bring a special person or friend in with her and that she wants to bring me. :) of course i said yes, i was very happy actually!
DF gave me a look like i don't think you're going to like what she's going to tell you-BUT i actually did like that she asked me to go along. last year i felt weird going to all these places and i just felt so uncomfortable, but this year i'm stepping it up and really taking charge on my life and the kids' lives. i need to be a part of the things they enjoy the most and get out there and hopefully meet parents and become friends with some of them.
her girl scout leader said that she and her special friend has to bring something in that has to do with the friends culture, so we're going to bring in croatian slippers. my mom bought her a pair when she was there too and we have matching ones. :) it was her idea to bring in the slippers. she even told all her friends that they have to be careful because i have stitches! :hehe: supposedly these girls are pretty rowdy! so i'll be sitting there and taking it easy, since i'll be having my other mole removed a couple days before then and i won't be able to stretch or do any type of exercises..
becca even told me that the other leader told her that she can't wait to get to know me better. :) so hopefully i'll be making some new friends when i go. i'm excited and i'm glad that she chose me to go with her.

I hope you both have fun...Hubby used to be a scout leader for many years and Cal used to love going along...they had lots of fun together and it was a great bonding exercise for them, I hope you and Becca find it to be just as beneficial :)

thanks everyone. :)
we definitely have come a long way this past year and i feel like things are only getting better with time. it was very sweet of her to choose me and i'm looking forward to it. :)
she also brought her cookie sheet home, so DF and i will be helping her sell cookies for girl scouts again this year. she sold the most cookies last year and got a decent gift. this year they have better gifts, so hopefully we'll be able to sell more. unfortunately last year my mom was away, so i couldn't give it to my mom to sell at the hospital, but now i'll be able to. :) and they even have a new cinnamon cookie that i want to try! :hehe: anyone want cookies?! let me know! :D

That's great news Kiki and what a wonderful feeling you must have being invited! It's great to hear you getting closer to the kids and overcoming some of that apprehension you had late last year.
If I was in the States, I'd definitely buy some cookies. Cinnamon ones sound good.

so tonight was the night that i went in for becca's girl scout meeting. :) i was one out of 4 special people that actually came. i was surprised that not many people came at all..anyway, i was glad i went. it was really nice. i stood in front of everyone while becca talked about me and then she had to do a family poster with all our pictures on it. :) then people asked questions and we showed off our croatian slippers. it was great.
these little girls though are a handful! i wasn't liking most of their behavior at all, but becca was just sitting there quietly the whole time. she's more shy and isn't the jumping and screaming type of girl. yes, there's kids, but when girls are talking over adults and being rude, i don't think so..this one girl mouthed the word b*tch and she's 8 years old!! another girl was dancing while sitting on a chair..teasing was going on too. i can't imagine having becca dealing with these girls until high school. ugh! at least i got to see how some of these girls act and will now know who's who, which is good.
overall it was really nice and becca was so happy and thanked me for coming. :)

I am really happy for you & Becca Kiki she is really stating to love you & feel very close to you & we all know that she thinks of you as her special friend, i think it's also good to see how some of the others act because you realise that your own kids are not as bad after all lol
well done Kiki & Becca

I'm glad that it went well Kiki. It really is wonderful just how well you have settled into your life with John and the kids. Becca must have been so proud to have you come especially when a lot of the other girls didn't bring someone special :)

That's great Kiki, sounds like you and Becca has a great night. Like MOC said, sometimes is refreshing to see others kids behaviour and the re-assurance that yours aren't as bad is nice!

i'm not sure if they have another night where their special friend can come back, so we'll see.
and they honestly were. i was really put off in a way seeing how these young girls act and i'm so glad becca is completely different. she's so shy and quiet, but that might be good for her in the end!

It sound's like you had a very good evening, and it was a very good way for you to bond with Becca, it also gave you a chance to see who she is mixing with.
