When I had my 1st baby in 1982, I became a SAHM until my 2nd child went to school, so I watched Days of Our Lives, AND The Young and the Restless! I haven't watched either since, except for the odd glimpse now and again.. and I am amazed to see the same old faces!

I must confess to watching The Bold and the Beautiful, have watched it almost from the start. Some of the story lines are so lame, and talk about everyone doing everyone omg :faint: but I still watch it everyday LMAO

I used to watch the Sullivans many moons ago too LOL, but don't watch any other soapies.

I absolutely can't stand those shows! My secret shame is watching Dr Phil. I'm just glad that one of those soaps comes on straight after so I turn the television off. I don't know why - I just can't sit through a whole episode of them. I sometimes get the end of B&B before the news but I never really get too involved.

I do watch Neighbours - well, it's in between Simpsons episodes, so often I don't actually watch it, but it's on in the background.

I'm a bit worried because Hugo really loves the television. He particularly likes shows that just have a face on them - like the news or cooking shows. No matter how I try to position him so he can't see the television he will wriggle around and twist himself so he can see it (even if it is upside-down).

(I used to be a 'my child won't watch television' mother  )

I guess The Bill could be called a soapie going by the bad story lines for a while. But I watch Neighbours every now and then.

I'm a Home & Away Junkie, have watched it since it first started.

When my kids were born I used to watch Days and Young & the Restless, I didn't watch them regularly just every now and again to catch up. I lost interest when they had the "catch up" to US episodes- I have no idea whats going on now.

I used to watch Passions LMAO but not anymore am very much over it!! I do watch Home & Away moreso than Neighbours but they are pretty much as wacky as each other. Used to watch DOOL when I was sick and didn't go to school and sometimes on school holidays. :pam:

I must confess, I watched Days of our lives religiously for years but haven't for a long time. Can you believe how many times someone comes back from the dead
on that show?

I used to watch Passions LMAO

OMG are you serious! That show is horrid LMAO

We watch Home and Away sometimes.

I also watch DOOL sometimes. I didn't start watching it again until after the catch up, after not watching it for months. I couldn't work out what the hell was going on LOL. Then found a site and read up a few months of what was going to happen, it's such a terrible story line LOL

Monty

Yes Passions is very horrid but my ex-housemate conned me into watching one episode. Its worse than the other soapies (apart from storylines) because they repeat last weeks and last episode for about 10 minutes in the next episode and it literally takes months and months for the storyline to come along.... LOL

The strange little people put me right off LOLOL. It's been on for so long, I didn't think it would last more than a few weeks. I guess they are all as bad as each other LOL

I want The Swan back!

Tora

I watch Coronation Street now here in NZ LMAO

I admit to being a "Big Brother" addict when it is on. :help:

I watched Neighbours for years but stopped watching it about a year ago. It just started getting too much into teenagers & I wasn't really interested. I also used to love the English soapies...Eastenders & Coronation Street but found them to be a bit depressing.

I don't watch much TV on the commercial channels anymore. I have watched BB every year, but less & less. I don't think I'll bother with it this year. I got fed up with it always running over and them re-hashing snippets of previous shows.

I spend a lot of time watching cable TV. I think the only show I watch on regular telly now is Dr Phil...I love that show.

We watched Grumpy Old Men on ABC2 last week (Monday or Tuesday), it was classic. A bunch of famous 35-50 year old men complaining about today's society. Must remember to watch it again this week.

Hehehe that sounds rather funny... What do men have to complain about!!! LOL.. They get it easy to us (no, I'm not a man hater) :P Wish I had cable now...

They were complaining about women wearing revealing clothes, but not being able to look at them for fear of being branded a pervert. They reckon it's hard not to look at a woman's breasts when they're kind of out there.

They complained about women wearing g-strings with low cut pants, so you can see the top of the g-string.

They were complaining about fashion in general & how stupid young people look.

One bloke took his teenage daughter into a clothes shop & said 20 years ago he'd have been in his element being in a shop surrounded by young women, but he found the volume of the music intolerable & actually went up to the counter & told them to turn the music down. LOL.

Oh...they were also on about piercing in weird places such as noses, tongues, eyebrows etc.

It was really funny, it's on tomorrow night on ABC2 @ 8.00pm. My boss doesn't have cable (he's too tight to pay for it), but reckons that he gets ABC2, so check your TV :) It's worth watching. The scary part is that I agreed with most of what these grumpy men were saying...but I've always been open & honest about being a grumpy old fart myself.

I'm a sucker for Days Of Our Lives. Been watching it since i was about 11 or 12 because my mum use to tape it and watch it about 4pm when she got home from work which is when i'd get home from school aswell so i kinda had no choice!! But then slowly got hooked on it too!

I watch almost every reality show now too. Its awful!! I just can't stop myself though!! But my husbands sadder than i am...before i met him apparently he had a "survivour party" when the last episode was on of the first series!! LMAO
I think he's the one that needs help!! I give him shit about it all the time!! (Hmmm...now i feel just as stupid cuz i married him!!)

Hi,
OMG, how did I miss this thread?! Of course I love Soapies! I'm a Soapie addict! Well, I'm a Days of our Lives Addict! When I was in high school, I used to get my Mum to tape DOOL for me, and then I'd watch it as soon as I got home! And I even sent away to try and join up with the Official DOOL FanClub in America! Got a reply back too, but it would have cost me too much to join up!
I still tapes special bits of the show, like memories of years ago, and weddings and when poor Tom died, Anniversaries and stuff like that! :)
Also watch bit of The Young and the Restless and loads of Australian shows like Home and Away, All Saints, Blue Heelers, etc, and lots of American shows like Desperate Housewives, and used to adore Dawsons Creek, Beverly Hills 90210, and Melrose Place!
Like Sands Through The HourGlass, So Are The Days Of Our Lives! From Contiki.

I used to be hooked on the Bold and The Beautiful but not so much anymore. I might catch the occasional episode.

My friends call me a "TV junkie". I guess cause I live alone it is like having a companion, if I am home during the day, I will watch anything and everything, I do look forward to Dr Phil and Oprah, I don't think I have ever really watched Days of the Y & R. Sometimes if I finish work early will go over to a girlfriends place and watch Bold & Beautiful...much better now Taylor is back!!!

Also watch Neighbours and Home and Away, McLeods, All Saints, House, Grey's Anatomoy, CSI Miami, CSI, CSI New York, Law and Order, Law and Order: SVU, Criminel Intent, NCIS, Jag, The Apprentice, The Biggest Loser, The Princess, The Movie Show on the ABC and sometimes Australian Story.

And now Quincey M.E, this is on at 10.30pm and really is very 70's, wish they would bring back Hart to Hart and Remington Steel.

Even when I was a kid I watched The Young Doctors and A Country Practice, Sons and Daughters.

Soaps are great, I wonder how this new show Headland will go?

Contiki

Hi Alexa,
Yeah, Headland sounds like an ok show to me. Seen on commercials that it has Kane and think Kim from Home and Away and Bron from All Saints.
I used to watch Sons and Daughters every now and then as a kid, but I like the theme song from that best!
I watched Quincy ME the other night, it was ok, but yes, very seventies and a bit corny! But hey, still ok to watch!
Remember shows like The Cosby Show, and The Good Times, Family Ties and Cheers, those eighties shows, I used to love watching those shows.

OK yes Guilty here, love the soaps, but don't get much time to sit down and watch. Days was a favourite, don't know what is happening since the 5yr catch up so have lost interest. Home and Away has been a fav since the teenage years, now the kids like it :jump: so I don't have to fight for the TV.

I too am guilty - not so much now as I don't have time to sit & watch them.

I used to watch Prisoner years ago when I was still at school (& then watched every episode of the re-runs a few years back). Sons & Daughters was another one that I watched & A Country Practice.

The main one I watch is Eastenders - I have watched every episode from the beginning (cannot get enough of it). I used to watch it when it was on ABC but they stopped it about 12 years ago. Then when UKTV started on Foxtel I started watching it again from the very beginning (when old Reg was found dead in his armchair) & still do everyday.

We do watch All Saints & have only just started to watch Blue Heelers again but that's about it.
