I just saw on the news about the Cyclone that is about 40km's out of Townsville at the moment & due to cross over into Townsville very soon. They say the winds will be up to 290km per hour. They have no television or fm radio broadcasting at the moment. Apparently there is only AM radio.

I just hope that everyone in Northern Queensland stays safe & no-one gets hurt  .

Larry is just off Innisfail, which is a couple of hours drive from Cairns. And it is category 5 which is the highest category. Townsville is just getting the outer edge of the cyclone lots of rain and wind and Mackay (where I am) have only winds so far. In Townsville people are being evacuated from right along the coast because there is another depression/cyclone forming which will raise the tides by 4m on top of the normal 2m tides. Not sure what that will do for Mackay but we haven't had a warning this morning.

It must be terrifying for everyone up there - I hope everyone is ok. I have relatives in Mackay, but apparently its not as bad there.

Here in Mackay we are getting sunshine on and off. It isn't bad here at all. Aparently not as good for further north. So far it doesn't sound like any lives have been lost - lets hope it stays that way. Well wishes for anyone in the cyclone area.

Lets hope that no lives are lost. Buildings can be repaired and replaced but lives cant.

I just saw the pictures on the news and it looks terrible- I think the pictures were mostly of Innisfail.

I too hope everyone stays safe.

A friend is in Cairns on holidays atm and rang her daughter early this morning to say she has been evacuated to a church, so I hope she is OK too.

Lets hope that cyclone Wati behaves and it doesn't cause any further devastation up north. My fiance is a truck driver and he had to stop at Mackay. He is on his way up to Ingham and Atherton. Thoughts and prayers for everybody in that region.

Just heard on the news that the new incoming cyclone 'Wati' probably won't affect the coast for 3 or 4 days so at least they will have a little break.
