Before Christmas, I got given a couple of nice prints which I haven't gotten round to hanging yet. I was just wondering if anyone has used the 3M brand of picture hooks. They have an adhesive and are supposed to be less damaging to walls than standard picture hooks. Not to mention they can be moved easily.

I have used them for smaller items like a little plaque in my kitchen and the calender but I'm a bit dubious of hanging a bigger item on them - even though the hooks are rated up to 2.27kg and the prints weigh less than that. :dk:

I haven't had any problems with them either - I used the big ones at our last house but I never needed to take them off the walls so have no idea if they do mark the walls or not :dk: The pictures stayed up though and they were quite heavy

Wasn't much help was I :hehe:

Kay if it is precious print I would be dubious about using an adhesive one....:dk:

I would rather use one that I have hammered into the wall and be safe in the knowledge that it wasn't going anywhere :P

Oh no they aren't exxy prints....they were a find at a garage sale by a relative who kindly dropped them off to us - they must think our walls look boring :P

I also have a painting of a horse that I need to hang somewhere but it weighs a tonne so I don't think the adhesive hooks will cut it for that one! :hehe:

I bought a heap and then realised we have picture rails here in the main rooms so I've only used them for a couple of small things in Hugo's room and they've been great, even with frequent on-and-off action (one of them has a learn to tell the time clock that he is always taking down and playing with). I haven't tried to remove them yet either but that looks really easy to do. I'd give them a go ... in fact I intend to when I get around to having a couple of posters block-mounted for our room.

Edit - there are different hooks depending on the weight of the picture, just make sure you get the hooks that will hold your pictures.

okay update.Due to the fact we are moving I pulled a small one of the wall today and the bloody paint came with itx(. So now I might revise my pp to say it depends on what paint u have on the wallsLMAO But i still say they are good to hold up piccies

I will wait for an update from you cos all I have used them for so far is calenders and pot mits! But I do have a stack of them that I bought to hang some heavy frameless frames.

I rent and use them to hold up my cross-stitch pictures, one is rather large, and they work fine. I used the largest one to hold the map of the world in my study....and that is a huge print that is now framed.

Good luck.

Well we decided to go with metal picture hooks for the bigger pieces, mainly because two of them have glass coverings and we wanted to hang them in the tiled area. The thought of having to clean that up if one of them falls.... :headh:

But I have a few lighter picture frames and such that will be hanging over carpeted areas so I'm going to use them for those. :)
