Ok me again with another wordpress question....

How do you guys upload your images to wordpress? Do you ftp them to your server and then link them in or upload them to a photo sharing site like flickr or photobucket and save on bandwidth?

Also I am having some issues with images after migrating my old blogger blog to the new WP blog... probably best to show you rather than explain, but see how the post before the one with the images start half way up besides the images in the post after...

Is this just a problem with the migration or something else? I have played around with the CSS a lot (and I am still not 100% happy with the look!) but I am pretty sure it works when I add an image to a post in WP? If it is a known issue is there a trick to fixing it or is the easy way just to delete each photo and add them in again????

thanks all :)

Kate

Kate there's a couple of ways you can do this.
1. If you don't have a bandwidth problem with your server then you just upload your images through your blog post editor (from the Dashboard menu bar click on Write>Write Post).
Then scroll down to the Upload section and click Browse to choose your image from your computer. Then click the Upload button. When the thumbnail appears select whether you want to display a thumbnail or a full sized image and click Send to Editor.

2. If you have a bandwith concern then host your images at another site (eg Flickr or open a free Wordpress, com blog account and configure it to Private. Then do the same process as I've outlines above and when your image is loaded into the Editor press Publish.
Then click View Site at the top of the screen and you'll see your image. Right click on it and select Copy Image Location.
Back at your Real Blog, go into your post editor screen where you want to include your image and click on the icon of a tree in the editor tool bar. Just paste the image URL into the space there and your pic will show up on your blog.

I hope that's not too complicated.

You can use the second method to fix the problem with those images that didn't migrate properly from your old blog.

thanks karen!

I have been madly playing with my blog design and I *think* I have fixed the image issues by playing with the CSS.

I also think I know how I want new images to look on the new blog.. now just to decide if I want to keep my hosting bandwidth for scrapping stuff or use it for blog photos.... ah so many decisions in this new blog thing!

I used to FTP and link to them but now I just use flickr. I host most of my pictures there for family and friends to see, and its easy to pop the ones I want to use in a blog post.

The picture problem would have been CSS, with posts ridding up under each other. I have had that issue before, but sounds like you have it sorted :)

I have that problem with video embeds sometimes.....I couldn't figure it out :dk: So I just removed the video :hehe:

Kate have you got the Flickr plug in for Wordpress?? Makes it easy to insert your photos :D
