Hi all, A question about our 2 yo boy. ............. We also have and 11 yo girl and 4 yo girl. Darcy 2 is very much a Mum boy to the point that on many an occasion no one but Mummy can do certain things like dressing him or getting him a drink.:uhno: (I do ask Dad to do it and he will let him under protest!!) It feels lately it a kind of 'power trip', if thats the right way to describe it. (Or more so an attention thing)
All the kids are great, I think the girls feel it when my attention needs to be focussed on him. He still has the occasional breast feed, mainly 1st thing in the morning and b4 bed, which I suppose is more a comfort thing. I'm trying to get him off the boob, but it's very difficult, (it must be a boy thing!).
Has anyone got any advice please? I'm starting him at Kindy in March, he's so ready for it and I'm hoping this may solve a few issues.
Also very hard to keep clothes on him, bit of an exhibitionist may be? Part of the male breed!:)
hhheeelllpppp!

I don't know if it's advice but my son was very similar - definitely a mummy's boy at that age. He's still very affectionate at times, and given he's a thug of a boy at the best of times (:)), you wouldn't pick it. Kindy would help I'd think.

I know kiddies do go thru stages and this could be one??!! I have girls but all of mine have gone thru the whole mum, mum, mum stage and it does get a bit much:yes: Definantly the kindy thing will be good for u and him. When I started my middle child in child care it was so good to finally see her break out(?) a bit:yes: She is definantly a mummys girl. Not much help am I:)

Yes i too think its probably just a stage, all my kids went thru the mummy only and daddy only stage, I noticed dylan went thru the mummy stage more than the daddy and bell went thru the daddy stage more than the mummy.
Wonder if the younger two will follow that pattern? Jordan might not as he is pretty close to his daddy, between my shoulder problem a couple of months back, and general pregnancy woes they spent a fair bit of time together. Anyway thats OTT LMAO sorry!
Kindy should help, in the meantime dont make a fuss over it (and dont let DH) Its a natural thing kids go thru they dont do it at that age out of malice, That stage comes in a couple of more years LMAO
I would when possible go along with his request for you to do it (eg get the drink) If you are otherwise busy with something just gently say something like "Honey mummy's busy right now you can either wait for me to finish or we can ask daddy" .....Give him the choice so he doesnt feel like he's not in control.
Dont worry this stage doesnt usually last long.
He's 2. Sounds like he's discovered that he can sometimes have control over certain things.

maybe he's that way because he does feel in control and wants to be like the little baby and have all the attention?! also, how can he let go a little bit when he's still on the boob and is still being felt in control? i think that has a part to do with it, but that's my opinion. isn't 2 too old for that?! i really don't know, so i'm not trying to be rude, just clue me in!

ohh, i never really heard of that and didn't know that..i guess that's because i don't know anyone that does that here! everyone i know that has children takes them off BF probably at around one, but my little 8 month old cousin now i know is starting to eat solid foods, so i guess it depends more on the parent than the child?

I can't believe Darcy has fed this long, I always said after 1 I'd stop, the girls only fed for 6 months and 1 week. The boob drinks are coming to an end very soon! Talking to other Mums and some of them are still feeding at 3 and 4. (Don't think I could do that) To each his own I suppose. Thank you for your feedback.
