YAH SCHOOLS BACK
The grown up boy has just left to get the bus to high school. his first day. I am not worried at all, he knows most of the kids on the bus and the teachers will keep each home room together for the first 2 weeks, that way noone gets lost trying to find their classes.
DD1 of to grade 5 and DD2 is now in grade 1, well actually grades 1,2,3 as she is in the 'special' smart kids class. Oh what fun the teacher is gonna have with her.
our kids still have another week yet :D

My 10 year old GD is in yr 6, and happy to be back at school. As an only child she has missed her friends.
My 5 yr old GD started Prep today, she looked so cute and grown up in her school uniform. The teacher will know she is alive with Ella in her class, won't be long before she has the asst. teacher's job. LMAO LMAO

I HATE school going back because the trains are soooooo crowded. The children are rude in many instances and don't give up their seat for full fare paying adults. The trains take longer to get to town.

only 6 weeks off?! wow!
so how many school days are there in a year then? altogether the kids have 180 days of school each year..obviously not including weekends! :)

***REMINDER***
To everyone to please be EXTRA careful when driving around our busy schools from today. Remember that it is a 40km limit in all school zones :D
Alexa

I hate when school goes back as the amount of parents who drive there kids to school is just a nightmare for people who drive along the Pacific Hwy, this whole area is serviced by trains and buses yet all these 4WD and Volvo's come out of there million dollar homes to drive one child a 100 metres...and the thing that really gets me is the parents that drop there kids off right in front of the schools and they are so not allowed and they so don't respect the 40km zones.
It has been the best 8 weeks off with all the private and public schools on holidays...roll on Easter holidays.

Actually Alexa, that's been a problem at our school since they changed the zones. We can no longer drop the kids out the front where it's safe as the buses pull up there. So, we have to drop them up the road and they have to cross a number of driveways. So, we then have to drag all the littlies out of the car through rain, hail or shine, just to know they have reached the gate safely! Something the acting principal was pushing to do something about last year - unfortunately the other principal is now returning and won't bother to try :(

Yo and Mel....off to a strange new world for your eldest delights....how did they go today?
Cherie.....who cried the most?
Christina, here we have a six week break Dec/Jan then the next lot is two weeks over Easter, two more around June and the last two weeks Sept/Oct....so all up about 84 days plus public holidays.

Kiki - we have 11 weeks of holidays approximately - and most public holidays fall in that time :) It's nice to have it spread out a bit!

heather my son starts high school tomorrow. 6.30 wake up for him (he will not be happy)
Hey we own a 4wd & hubby is purchasing one for me soon but we are responsible drivers, you know it's the rich people who have the 4wd's for show (people in the 4wd community call them show ponies:hehe:)
that cause all the problems.
We can stop out the front of our school as long as we are at our car at all times(you can stand out next to the car) i do this all the time as i have a 3 year old that has a sleep at the same time as picking my kids up from school so he get's to sleep while we wait for them out the front.
Why is it us 4wd owners always get a bad wrap?
Cherie

Geez I've got 2 Volvo's..how do you think I feel. LMAO LMAO LMAO

oh wow, that is nice how it's spread out! the kids have pretty much the same amount of time off. they have 10 weeks for the summer, 2 weeks for xmas/new years, and then a week for easter/spring break. and a couple days here and there, like a long weekend for thanksgiving, etc. :) but i prefer having a couple weeks off every couple months like there. it'd definitely have the kids look forward to something! :hehe:

LMAO @ Cherie!
Mel - I have a 4WD too, but I just roll over the people who complain... :hehe:
Kiki, we used to have 3 longer terms yeats ago, but thank heavens they've changed to 4 shorter ones (usually 10/11 weeks each). So much better for the kids to have that break after that time, and I know many teachers who are worn out by then too!
we have a 4wd & yes get sick of hearing complaints about 4wd owners. I find the mums in the little zippy cars a PITA as they race into the car park & out again as such speeds it is scary.
Kezza if the principal wont do anything try your schools P&C they should be able to

WOW my son is growing up!
I remember him starting Kindergarten like it was yesterday & this morning he was
starting a new adventure, High School.
he looked so grown up in his uniform
On the way to the school i asked if he was nervous & he wasn't at all he's really excited,'Which was good
for me as i thought i would cry (i did on orientation) but i think because he is so excited, i was excited for him.
he's really looking forward to joining the science club (which will be great for him)
I needed to go to the office to inquire about a bus pass for him but he said "it's OK mum I'll go & do it for you
I'm grown up now" i looked at him & realised he was right. all the mothers standing out the front hanging all over the kids, my son just wanted to walk in himself & find his mates.......
OMG where has my baby gone?
i'm so very proud of my son he's growing into a very respectable, mature & generally a nice guy!
From one very PROUD Mum
PS: i'm now crying as i read this i just wrote, so much for not crying today
