ok so who is going to be celebrating Valentines Day and what kind of things will you be doing.

Hubby and I have just had our anniversary and we did the Bon Jovi concert and w out for dinner then had a lovelly night out.

2 weeks later and it is Valentines and I honestly don't know what to do.

I was thinking of having a nice romantic dinner at home after the kids have gone to bed. Make his favourite meal and then we can have a relaxing night.

as for a gift.. not sure there either.. men are so hard to buy for.. haha.

so what is everyone else upto?

we don't have 100% definite plans as of yet, but DF and i talked about going out to dinner. the following day the kids don't have school, so we were thinking of having his parents watch them. we rarely go out to eat, so that'd be nice. plus last year we had a blizzard, were short on cash, and ended up staying home shovelling, but we did go out for hot chocolate with the kiddies, lol. so this year we both want to do something.
as for a gift, i bought him a pair of jeans not too long ago! LOL. i got it shipped to the house and he didn't even know until i handed him the package. he really needed a nice pair of jeans and they were on sale, so i thought why not!? he can easily wear it for v day if we go out to eat. i told him it was for v day and i really am not expecting anything..but then again i am a bit, only because he's been working over time since last week and next week and the week after he'll be getting nice checks, lol. so i kind of am, but then again just dinner out would be PLENTY enough. :)

I am not sure if we will get each other a gift as we have just done the whole gift thing.. perhaps something small and something we can use together.. we shall see

We don't celebrate either (I love him every day! :P) but it sounds like a good excuse for champagne to me.

I'm babysitting my nephew so that my sister and BIL can go out to dinner and I think from memory they are seeing a show, but that is on Friday 15th.

My single girlfriend (like me) we are going out to the movies to see Definitely, Maybe.

haha, yeah, i'm looking forward to it! :) OMG, i actually found out tonight that he already has the gift he bought me for v day..i honestly don't know why he has to tell me these things, lol. he told me the same thing for xmas. like why are you even going to tell me you bought me something?! when the day comes just give it to me, lol. because then i make myself crazy thinking what it is and when he bought it, etc. well, i guess i'm getting something then! he said it's at his parents house..ugh, can't he just keep it a surprise?! lol.

Hello ladies :waves:

I feel sad when I think of Valentine's Day. :( I had a boyfriend this time last year, now I'm all alone :crying:
Being single and seeing couples everywhere hurts. I'm not begrudging any of you ladies. I'm envious of you all with your hubbys and bfs. Hopefully this time next year I'll be with someone too. Perhaps it's time for me to start looking around. Wish me luck :hehe:

We do not celebrate it here.
I was just wondering if any Australians here can tell me who was St.Valentine, and why is the day celebrated?:D

St Valentine was a matyred saint...14 February was originally the feast day but it was then later changed by the church. Somehow along the lines of history it got convuluted into a celebration of romance. Got to love history :hehe:

Was just thinking I have no idea who he is and why, as Aussies, we celebrate this day. Thats all.:) Thanks Storm for your reply.

You are right Stormy. It will happen when the time is right. As the Phil Collins song goes, "You can't hurry love"

Flora - someone will enter your life when they are meant to. Don't worry in the slightest.

This year I am going to dinner with 2 women to my favourite restaurant in Launceston. We went for $1 flights and didn't even think about Valentine's Day!! Anyway, sitting....just the three of us amongst all the couples should be darn amusing! :D

I do like to people watch. I feel sad for a 'couple' when they sit alone at dinner in silence for the bulk of the time. Been there, done that! :headh:
