So, in amongst our flooding dramas, hubby finally put the bunks in the 19 month old's room. The plan was to get her used to them and then hopefully move her in the next couple of months so bub can have the cor after growing out of the bassinet...
The bunks went in last night at bed time and she climbed in with her teddy and rug, said 'nigh night' and went to sleep! Hubby heard her moaning at about 4 am and she'd fallen out of bed (must have been the night for it as DS fell out of his onto the flooded floor last night). This morning DD went in to get her and she'd taken her nappy off and wet the bed - but she'd spent the whole night in there!
Just put her down for her nap and she climbed straight back into the bunk! Be great if it's that easy :D

Get some rails for the bunk....they are not expensive and slip easily under the mattress.
My TT still uses them as he is a mover while sleeping.
I must admit tho...that after falling out of bed....to want to get straight back in shows how plucky she is.

The good thing about the bunks is that the bottom one is very low - so she can't really hurt herself. My DS used it too. My poor DD though had a huge queen anne bed to learn in!

Aww such a big grown up step to take and dont they look so lost in a big bed,
I still remember the transition for my babies my son cried every night for a fortnight and pointed to his cot as I carried him past it, I to was trying to get him into the big bed, before his little sister needed the cot, I didn't want him to think she had pushed him out, but my daughter was a real laugh every night on the dot she fell out of bed dead on 11pm she was so consistent you could set your watch by her:hehe: I put her cot mattress down on the floor for about the first week till she got the hang of it
good luck, but sounds like your wee tot is ready to be a big girl

I remember the photos I have taken of my two eldest children, their first night in a 'big bed', and they only cover a third of it!!! They grow up so fast. I must admit that I have been thinking about getting my youngest a big bed as well. She is 2 years and 5 months old, but she still goes to bed happy and wakes up in the morning fine. She hasn't even tried to climb out!!!
Good Luck Kez, and I hope she keeps going fine.
