Come on - I'll provide free chocoloate for any takers! Hubby is a terrible painter, so he is banned, and I am just too tired and unmotivated... So, come along...

Painting is the worst chore!! No chance woman. :D

I'd prefer to change 100 doona covers - now that's really saying something as I hate doing that too.

I actually love painting too - but not at the moment :) And it's raining so the doors and windows have to be closed and it's hot... whinge whinge :hehe: I taped all the edges so it's much easier now.

Kiki - my DD is still at school, and she is far too creative a spirit for my taste in painting! My son on the other hand I'd let have a go :D

There is no amount of chocolate in the world that could tempt me to paint again (and i LOVE chocolate). We just finished painting most of the inside of our home and i am way over it.

Good luck though kezabelle. i can totally relate to hubby being a bad painter - mine is shocking - had to either repaint all his work or mop up/sand the drip marks grrrrrr

The last time I got the urge to paint was when I was 9 months pregnant and decided that baby *must* have a bright yellow bedroom to come home to! I quite like painting really, just a shame I am too far away.

Rachel, I have 13 days to go - and trust me, this is not nesting! This is just really great timing with the builder... :)

Come on girls, you can fly over and have a lovely coastal holiday in the rain! And chocolate of course :D

Sorry Kezz but i just hate painting & i would rather change 1000 doona covers LMAO

kezabelle
20-02-2008, 05:02 PM
These doona covers are popular - you know, I'd take you girls up on that offer if you were closer - that could get me through a year or so - hate changing them almost as much as ironing! :D

Well, the first coat is done in two of the three rooms, so you'd better hurry girls or all the chocloate will be eaten!

All the Tassie cream de menthe truffles on the planet is the only thing that could tempt me!! :D

Sorry Kezz didn't see any sign of you when I was doing all the painting in this house, 12 foot studs ans old fashioned mouldings :headh: and I hate chocolate
but I wish you all the best and am thinking of you :comfort:

kezabelle

Di - if you'd invited me I'd have happily holidayed in NZ and painted your house! :D

Kekka - I'll see what I can do about swinging by Tassie for those truffles...

Well, should hopefully do second coat tomorrow afternoon when bub is sleeping, then move the furniture back in to place, etc and move the furniture out of the way in the third room to start it. Lots of fun! And hopefully the deck starts tomorrow - depends on this rain! And apparently my huge bookcase is now going to be pine instead of chipboard, so I'll have to paint it too as I want it to be white! Hmmm...

wow, my DF is actually pretty good at painting. he's such a perfectionist it annoys me. when i did the molding in the hallway, i got a little bit of white on it and he like almost flipped out, lol. he had to do touches to some stuff anyway..lol.

If I was on holidays Kez I'd happily come down and paint for you. So long as I have a decent roller and enough paint and walls for it to go on, I'll paint all day. But I don't think you could afford me :P

i'm already scared of painting, and all we have done is think about what colours we would like so far.. we bought our own house just over two years ago, and it's all 'classic cream' from the colorbond fencing to the window trims.. sigh...

ONLY 10 hours OMG i'll leave right now, OH hang on i'm calculating 10 hours to get there i don't think there will be any chocolate left:hehe:

i'm already scared of painting, and all we have done is think about what colours we would like so far.. we bought our own house just over two years ago, and it's all 'classic cream' from the colorbond fencing to the window trims.. sigh...

zen i'll give you a couple of hints Don't do sample painting on the walls (small spots here & there), it makes it hard to cover if the colours are darker than the ones you pick, if you want to do some sample colours go to a hardware shop buy some off cuts of chiprock & then paint little spots on that & sit it against the wall.
Take into account your furniture & see what will go with them. Finally put some feature walls in they are fantastic especially in loungerooms/dinning rooms & bedrooms we have them in our house.
Don't be scared of colour..... Everyone uses the cream don't they, we have a cream/light caramel colour but then we have a colour called Donkey as our feature walls (like a brown) it's gorgeous.........

You would be amazed on what colours we put in people's houses, some people have very strange tastes, either that or have no colour co ordination:hehe:

thanks Mel... yes.. we have gone for colour cards from a paint shop, and the guys there said when we were ready, to paint cardboard and hang it on the wall for a while to check how it suited in the light we had... i like your idea better, was thinking cardboard would not actually show the colour correctly... we would like purple feature walls, all east facing walls we thought, you'd have to know our house to understand that, but it would suit.. greys throughout otherwise, we are gradually changing our furniture too, going for grey metal and frosted glass in the main, we shall keep to that theme...

the thing that surprised me the most was the way colours change! the guys at the paint shop looked knowingly at us when we picked the colours we liked, and talked me into taking lighter ones with us too.. of course they were right! the purple we thought we liked looked black in the light, or lack of it, in our home.. and the greys we liked were just too dark.. altho we do want strong colours! had enough beige and cream while we were renting to last a lifetime, and this house is all cream..

as you are in a painting business.. can i ask.. if you don't mind... we have those metal window frames, that are classic cream of course.. i know they won't really suit the grey we have in mind, can they be painted successfully? or should we just leave them alone....
