who likes mushy peas(blue boilers)? You know the ones you have with meat pies?
Yum, you have to have a pie with peas otherwise it is not the same. Mind you it has to be the "real" mushy peas not those awlful ones you get in a tin. LOL

I agree with the :eww:
There is a website (can't remember what it's called) where you can buy British food in Australia - and there is this particular brand of mushy peas (in a tin, sorry Gloria) - apparently the Australian tinned mushy peas aren't 'right' or something. I asked Simon if he ate them (he was born and grew up in England) but I don't think he's a big fan. (He does eat pork pies though - another British food that turns my stomach).
Naomi, yes I agree Pork pies are :eww:

A friend of mine is british & at his youth group it was a tradition to tip mushy peas over any newcomers as an initiation!

OH just told me he likes the mushy peas (he was also born and bred in UK) but he prefers Australian mushy peas! Weird... well I don't know if I like them or not :P But pork pies -GROSS- We sell them at work, you do NOT want to know what the ingredients are :eww:

So are they just normal peas that have been overcooked and mashed or are they a particular variety of pea????

Rell, they are a special type. You get a packet of dried blue peas, soak them overnight with a little bicarb in water, then cook them. :) Yummmm!!! lol
I agree with Gloria, pies just don't taste the same without them. ;)
Being a pommie, they are a MUST in our house!! ;)

Ahhh, so they aren't just your normal peas, mashed like potato?
Still, the look of them is rather off putting LOL

Thanks Tora for the info. I can't say I have ever had them. Next time I see pies and mushy peas I think I will give it a go.

Rell
To get technical with pies with peas. There are two kinds.
There are pies that have mushy peas in them and then they are baked.
Then there are pies that are baked and when you buy one you asked for peas and that's when they put them in your pie.
IMO, the only way to have them is on request.
I cannot believe you have never had a pie with pies. You don't know what you are missing out on. Next time I see you I will be sure to bring you one to taste.
Mondays are usually pie day for me and Trev LOL

Thanks Floria, I am looking forward to that. I do love pies, even though I shouldn't, so trying them with peas will be something different!!!
