Hi everyone.
I have Celiac's Disease which means I can't have Gluten.
Does anyone have any GF recipes? Main meals mostly.
OR does anyone know of GF products that I can get that are a bit different. I was diagnosed about 5 years ago and I'm getting sick of what I'm eating and to find things that are GF in the supermarket I can be there for hours reading everything.
Thanks.

I made a website for a company a few years ago that sold gluten free products. She has a few recipes on her site, and links to other suppliers too.
Alpen Star Distributors (http://www.alpenstar.net/)

Yomamma - it would take me hours to tell you.
I can't have anything with gluten in it, that means the only grains that I can eat are Rice and Corn. If you have a look at ingredients on just about anything there is gluten in it (mainly wheat). Also, vinegar is off the list unless it's Apple Cider. I know that there are more but I can't can't think at the moment.
Patricia, thanks for the link. Going to look now.
Patricia. Yummmmmmm!!!!! I'm hungry now.
Doesn't it sound and look nice. You can cook it for me if you like. We're both in QLD. I'm sure I can drive to your place and eat it.
lol.
Yomamma - the other thing is Malt.
When I was first diagnosed (about 5 yrs ago) I was drinking Soy Milk. Would you believe that all bar about 2 brands have malt in them????
Go figure! I thought milk was milk.
I don't assume anything anymore, I read carefully!
Same as corn flour - unless you get the one that says gluten free, it's got wheat in it.
Corn Flakes, Rice Bubbles - made from wheat. Names are so misleading.
Just have a little read of some of the things that you have in your pantry. You will be shocked!! I was!!!!

Just in case there is another Celiac person looking at this post I've just found another site.
This is Asian cooking. I really miss the Asian food. I'm now finding some brands that are gluten free. Yippee!!!!

Hey beverly how are you doing? I found this in the march issue of womens weekly it says gluen free so i hope it is.
CRUNCHY TREAT
Melt 375g milk choclate melts in a medium bowl over a pan of simmering water.
Stir in 4 thick plain crumbled rice cakes, 1/2 cup chopped dried apricots and 1/2 cup tiasted skivered almonds. Drop tablespoons of mix onto lined tray and refigerate until firm. makes about 35 clusters.
My sister said she has a cook book at home she'll lend me, she mentioned a author but I can't remember her name now. She suggested the library. She also said she noticed the other day the cookie man sells gluten free bickys, there should be one near you. Hope it helps, I'll post more when I get the info:waves: :waves: :waves:

Thank you so much Yomamma!
Doesn't that sound yummy!
I would appreciate the name or author of the book thanks. Most that I've looked at have only a few things in it that I would eat so I don't see the point in spending all of that money for a few things.
Thanks to this post I have found some things already.
I really appreciate what you're doing for me.
Hi Beverley, I just Googled "Gluten free recipes" and realised there are too many to list, but there seems to be on-line groups as well as hundreds of recipes. Good luck.

Bev I just found this recipe in Womens Weekly its a flour less chocolate cake but I'm not sure about the other ingredients

1 1/3 cp firmly packed brown sugar
1 cp (125g) hazelnut meal
4 eggs seperated
1 tbsp cocoa extra
1. Preheat oven to moderate, (180 c /160 c fanforced). Grease a deep 19cm sqare cake pan, line the base and sides with paper.
2. Blend the cocoa with the hot water in a large bowl until smooth. Stir in the chocolate, butter, sugar, hazlenut meal and egg yolks.
3. Beat the egg whites in a small bowl with elelctric mixer until soft peaks form, then fold into the chocolate mix in two batches.
4. Pour the mix into prepared pan, bake for about 1 hour or until firm. Stand the cake for 15 minutes, turn on to a wire rack top-side up and cool. Dust with extra cocoa before serving.

Thanks Yomamma.
I will send you a piece. I'm sure it won't break in the mail.
Being GF I know what the other ingredients are. I will try it. Thanks.
Reading through it, it sounds nice.
