It is not acceptable to jump on the benchtop while I am preparing food and attempt theft of said food. The next one of you who tries that in front of me will be subjected to wearing a serving tray strapped to your back and performing drink-waiter duties for the rest of the week :hmmf:

LMAO

my cats have actually started to realise that i really don't care where they are if there is no food prep going on, but worse than a serving tray might happen if they are anywhere near that benchtop when there's human food on it! even the retarded one realises this, finally...

Forever the hunter gatherers they are!!!

Anything that you're eating has to be nicer than their food....

When my puss was able to jump up onto benches or the table I would hiss her or spray her with water.
She has learnt not to do either of those things, she is 8 years old now. She is true to her name an Angel.

LMAO - I want pics if it happens - how cute would they look LOL

Nudge wouldn't dare go on the table or bench - he gets told to "psssst off" :hehe:

Guess that's the benefit of having a chubby cat with short legs.....Rosie just can't get up there at all because it's too high. :hehe:

Mojo can jump up to the breakfast bar quite easily (just as well as that's where I have to feed him so Rosie doesn't steal his food) but he never crosses over onto the bench. I don't know why but he respects that boundary and doesn't respect so many others.

When we had two dogs and two cats.....any food left on the counter for whatever reason, if the kitchen was unattended, the cats would knock the lot onto the floor and the four of then would be eating away to their hearts content....no arguing.
I once bought 10kgs of sausages, came home, left them on the counter while I answered the phone, came back about 15 minutes later and there was one sausage left and 4 very happy Furbies.

10kg of sausage  I'm amazed they weren't all flat on their backs, bloated like no tomorrow! :hehe:

LMAO at the sausages ... at least it wasn't steak :O

We have an island bench in the middle of the kitchen, they never used to jump up on it (but did the other benches) so I did all the food prep there. Apparently the lure of chicken was too strong though. No re-offenders YET ...

LMAO Heather, that's terrible :hehe:

Nudge has swiped a chop off my plate before. I left the table to get a drink and came back - he was gnawing at it on the floor :O

They did try it, but it was two big pieces of pepper steak.....the cats knocked them to the floor, didn't like the taste, so handed over to Nigel (we didn't have Ervin at that stage)....he took them outside and kept moving them around the backyard for a couple of days until they no longer had any pepper coating, but were well seasoned another way.....last seen disappearing down a happy dogs gullet.
