I've been trying to think what I can give my 10 month old to nibble on. He loves using his hands at the moment and was wondering instead of giving him a yoghurt I could give him some food to nibble on himself. He has 2 teeth the 2 front bottom ones and he's nearly 10 1/2 months. I give him toast occasionally but that's it besides his baby food. So any idea's would be great.

How about some bananna, grated apple...pieces of melon that he could suck/nibble on? My kids were always keen on fruit and veges and loved a little mixture on a plate they could play/choose from LMAO

He loves his vegies but I wonder if e gets sick of them after eating them nearly everyday. I know I would. I think I'll pass on the banana's cause of their price lately lol but grated apple, that wouldn't be too hard for him? Might get some rockmelon too mmmmm just got to stop me from eating it all first lol.

Dried fruit (apples, apricots) are good, they're good for sucking and chewing on. Maybe cut some cheese into little sticks that he can hold himself and nibble on. Hugo loved (still does!) plain pasta, I just cook a bunch of pasta spirals and he'll snack on them warm or cold. Good source of carbs, too.

Be careful with grapes, cut them up rather than giving them to him whole, as they can lodge quite easily in a small child's throat.

Grated apple is great, it's actually quite soft because it's so fine.

Haha the pasta I found the other day we had pasta for dinner so I thought I'd give Ty a piece, well one would not do lol. Made a lovely mess though. Do you put any sauce or anything on the pasta Naomi?

No, I leave it plain because Hugo doesn't like tomato based sauces ... I bet it does get messy with sauce, though

Another meal I do for Hugo is chopping up some ham, cheese, tomato etc and let him feed himself from a mixed plate.

He also loves those baby corn spears.

Really soft cooked pasta spirals or soft noodles, grated cheese, mashed avocado with cottage cheese, steamed vegie sticks (carrots, whole fresh green beans, zuchinni sticks).

Soft fruit pieces or mashed fruit. Grated apple is okay (just a small amount).

A smooth chop bone with a bit of meat left on is great for them to chew on.

If you have some old bread, cut it into fingers and spread with a tiny bit of vegemite, add a sprinkle of parmesan cheese and spray with some olive oil spray and place on a baking tray and slowly cook in the oven until they are hard. They make great rusks and you can seal them in tupperware or freeze them.

There is plenty of stuff around. Don't be afraid to buy baby food already made, as they have very strick rules and health regulations regarding hygiene and using all natural foods.

As long as the food cannot be bitten into hard pieces that will choke the baby then it is fine.

Good luck.

Add grated cheese to the pasta when it's still hot and it will melt. After the pasta has cooled it sticks to it and is really tasty. Even the older kids still love my cheesy pasta. I also add cheese sauce to my pasta but yeah it gets really messy when they want to feed themselves.

If you cook up some mince, stir it all the time it's cooking and it will seperate into small bits, add gravy. It's a yummy dinner. Aiden eats it already and he is 8months (I feed him though), you could add some small vegies for Ty. I used to buy the tin of mixed vegies for Logan to add to his meals.

This is a good thread Angie, it's always good to get new ideas on what to feed little ones.

My little girl just loves toasted bagel with cream cheese - she will munch on that any time of the day. A nice easy snack for the little ones.
